[OTTD] jostor's Sweden Screenshots (with 24h timetables)

Post by jostor »

I'm playing my own 4096x8192 Sweden scenario (as found here) mostly with the intention of creating a large and realistic save, with 24h timetables for all passenger trains and some freight trains. I'm far from done but I have made some progress at least:

A normal afternoon at the Stockholm Central station, several departures in most directions.

One of the 24 hour timetables, this is a train Stockholm-Hallsberg (via Södertälje-Katrineholm), it runs four times back and forth each day and spends the night at a depot in Hallsberg.
This train and one more together give this specific line a service every 2 hours.

Hallsberg is one of the more important junctions and a busy freight station. Right now there's quite few freight trains around compared to the usual.

How do you easily make enough orders too fill 24h? I don't like copying it 10 times. Took me 2 days to time table one train. Including no service between 22:00 and 6:00.

I wish I knew a way to multiply orders, or that one would be implemented, but I don't know, for some vehicles I simply added all destinations manually, but that is very tedious. When I'm lazy I just have each train only run once back and forth and then sit in a depot for the rest of the day, but that's not very efficient since it requires more trains and more depots.

Waiting in depot is no option for me, is want them to be on platforms or sidings.
I think I once saw a Spanish game in which a big 24h network was made.

When I say depot I mean a self-made more realistic depot like these:

That's one of the depots around Gothenburg, and it's about half full there.

In more remote areas trains usually just sit at a station all night, but if you have a lot of trains the stations will fill up and it also blocks the passage for more freight trains. No order can take more than 65000-something ticks, and with ticks per minute set to 150 24 hours is 216000 ticks, so just sitting in the station for more than 7 hours is too many ticks.

Problem with 24h timetables is that the game does not slow down in generating cargo during the night, so your station ratings will go down and the first trains in the morning will all run full after few stops (if pax have destinations), or at least get delayed due to long off-/loading times.

So 24hrs game don't work that well.

Cheats are (almost) always needed with such games. It's just cool to see perfect synchronization on platforms etc.

I like your depot, I do the same but mostly without rood, so it looks as an ordinary siding.

The X2 train is from the 2cc-set. (Where you can set the colour manually)

A few more screens from the game:

It's morning in Borås, and the trains to Varberg and Uddevalla are waiting to depart.

Ängelholm is the northern terminus for one line of the regional trains (Pågatågen) in southern Sweden, and also a stop for trains between Gothenburg and Malmö/Copenhagen. In this screen one of the longer distance trains got delayed out of Malmö and got behind a slower regional train and got slightly delayed.

One of the regional trains in Småland (Krösatågen) approaches Jönköping from the south. Jönköping doesn't have a lot of trains to it yet, as I haven't timetabled the trains Falköping-Jönköping-Nässjö yet.
