Hi!
As i understand long routes makes more profit. But what counts? The number of railway-tracks or the linear distance between the stations? Hmm.. like this:
(CM=Coalmine r=Railwaytrack PP=powerplant
Example 1:
CMrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrPP
Example 2:
CM_____________PP
r_______________r
r_______________r
r_______________r
r_______________r
r_______________r
rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Will example 2 make a larger profit?
Long routes more profit?

No, the distance that counts is the Manhattan distance in tiles between the station signs (see the wiki), so example two will make less profit since the travel time is longer for the same Manhattan distance.
Note that the Manhattan distance is not the linear route between points, but the route along the axis, see this article on Wikipedia

Thank you!
This is of course the most logical way, but i didnt know for sure. And, if I understood you right, its the distance between the stations that counts, not the distance between the actual coal mine and powerplant.

The distance between the tiles with the station sign on it. Distance between industries don't matter in the payment rate (of course the station will be somewhere close to the industry).jonasdpi wrote:Thank you!![]()

Keep in mind that long routes one way, also give long routes back, which can result in warnings of trains not making a profit in the last year (routes longer than half a year in each direction).
