Petition for Locomotion 2?

Post by 304 001 »

As TTD was released around 1994, and Locomotion was released around 2004, do you think 2014 could possibly be the year that Locomotion 2 is either announced or released?

My other favourite hobby is retro arcade gaming (anybody here heard of the MAME project?), and fans of these older games often launch successful petitions for sequels to be made.
A prime example being Street Fighter 4, and more recently, Capcom suggesting that Darkstalkers 4 is in development following fan demand.

Should we start petitioning for Locomotion 2?

If we can track down Chris Sawyer, get him to come out of retirement and maybe give him some money to make another game for us then possibly. ;)

Maybe It could be better to convert OpenTTD into Locomotion (a fork).

It's not easier, but It won't have the limitations of Locomotion, for example, It would work on GNU/Linux or lower CPU usage.

Where to start? I don't know, OpenTTD code is too complex for me. I have tried to write a small experiment from scratch, but... this is difficult!! :(

2014 means 20 years of TTD and 10 years of Locomotion, though I started to play Locomotion in August 2011. Pretty late huh?
If Locomotion 2 is created, can't wait to see the result

Either way, I would love to see a new one come out. Some sort of sandbox would be heaven for me.

Wait, he's retired?

Chris Sawyer, from what i read on that link, seems to be a lot like Peter Molineux (Lionhead studios) ....

It seems like he has loads of great ideas, but doesnt always finish a lot of them before starting something else.

Chris Sawyer is an adviser for the RCT series, most recently for RCT3D. You could get hold of Ludvig, who reverse engineered TTD. He works for spotify and invented, designed and made uTorrent. Though I'm not sure he'd want to spend so much of his time on that project. Maybe if people helped him, it could be done on no time.

You can set up many petitions online through many free websites.

(I heard that the RCT3D graphics are atrocious) Well a new version with new features and those things that are illegal to try and fix would be great. What other websites are doing petitions?

I don't think so, from a quick search. We could always set one up and invite other websites to sign...

YES!!! RCT3 was fairly good, but even that was years ago, and I loved RCT2, so, with time, Chris Sawyer should easily pull through.
Lets hope he could somehow read this topic.

Somebody ought to find that man Chris Sawyer somewhere.

And are we all in agreement that the first thing to go would be the 224-vehicle limit? :P
