Qubicle Constructor

Post by Dany »

Guys, quick idea, do you wanna try out Qubicle Constructor? A 3d modeler for our nice little isometric pixel art! It might get hacky with the basic edition, also I can help, I have experience with it, though I haven't got the artistic talent to do anything TTD-ish. Also could convert the already existing stuff into 3d, and even into obj, Minecraft or Ace of Spades!

EDIT:
BTW of course a lot better then Blender, if I remember right which you guys use for 32bpp?

Mm, putting the tedious pixel art back into 3d rendering.

Since TTD graphics aren't "blocky" in any way, I fail to see how this is more useful than conventional 3d modelling programs.

Dude no, I'll make you some stuff you won't even believe how much better it is! And not blocky. The stuff on the website is a bad example. Mainly visible edges. Not how voxels are supposed to be rendered. But it's a matter of style and qubicle can handle any style.

You might need to realize that the actual trains or whatever else are not consisting of any cubes or whatever, only their projection as in the sprite tends to be "cubes" as it often has rather few pixels. So I do not see how could you use such a cubicle program for sprites... maybe you will surprise us.

I would assume he would create a model in this "Qubicle" program and then render it into sprites that can be exported/edited into a GRF-usable format.
From what I gather, Pikka has models for his aircraft that he renders & edits into sprites for his Av8 grf. However, he presumably uses a more "mainstream" 3D program like 3ds max or blender.

Yes I know Aviators are made that way for example, but how is that related to making objects actually consisting of cubes? :D

If aircraft would consist of salt, it would be perfectly fine to model them with lots of small cubes.

NOT CUBES GODDAMMIT.

*facepalm*

A voxel just says that there is a volume there...

Gonna try something now.

The Internet is not a big truck... it's a series of cubes!

That image is actually an output of a bitmap editor I believe.

Well, pixels are 2D cubes, so hey, that's 2/3 of the job :P

If you had spent as much effort actually making something with the Qubicle Constructor rather than arguing how great it is, that would have been a more productive use of your time to prove what you say is true. Would it not?
