Re: REQ .... 85 class and 86 class electrics
Would be very nice indeed, but I think Hammo is going to cover it in the foreseeable future with his topic.
Re: REQ .... 85 class and 86 class electrics
These are class 85s and 86s .......

Re: REQ .... 85 class and 86 class electrics
haha Badger, he means the NSW class 85s and 86s . Probably should have been mentioned in the first post or topic title, but I figured it out when I noticed that the builder was listed as Comeng...
But perhaps I should look at getting some 81/82/90 classes done afterwards to haul them. The 86 class at least should be fairly similar to the 81 class. just a few minor modifications (panto mainly) should need to be made there.
err... maybe. we'll see. If I do, it'll be because I'd be doing the 442/80/81 class locos. Keep in mind that I haven't even got the first coal hoppers out yet. Re: REQ .... 85 class and 86 class electrics
Yes, I know that you're alluding to the Aussie stock released at the fanpage. I use it myself... but most of it is pixellated beyond recognition. Granted, those locomotives are pretty much the exception to the rule. I still don't like the difference between the 80 and 82 liveries, despite both being FC. Also, the older liveries might be nice

Bet you don't realise all those classes of train you've mentioned have featured on UK lines in the last 20-odd years.

Unfortunatley it's not your place to ask people how to behave here. It is mine however. I wasn't rude, I just got straight to the point. And yes, everyone can read that text.
Let's get back on-topic please.

I could see the sarcasm there (hence the )... maybe I should have added "you 'fewl' " after Badger in that sentence after all...Badger wrote:No concept of sarcasm in Aussie-land then

But as I'm on uni 'holidays' as of 5 hours ago, I'll see what I can do on this. Still plenty of more important things to do first though. The real world is a tough mistress.

You dont know, or you just dont want to know? As there is plenty of info for making them yourself.

Re: REQ .... 85 class and 86 class electrics
There is a sticky, on all sorts of 3d modeling programs that you can download. Sketchup, Blender are free, and 3dsm is not, unless you are a student. All these programs will take some time to understand and look around the web, there are plenty of tutorials. And both programs except for sketchup, can render their own sprites. Start with that and see where you get.
Re: REQ .... 85 class and 86 class electrics
I've had the benefit of coming to the table already knowing how several 3D programs work. The hardest thing conceptually is getting into the mindset of creating objects in 3D. different programs approach this in different ways, so the best idea is to pick a program, and get to know it. Don't pick up a program and "start making a train" - you will get yourself confused and frustrated. Start off simple. Make a cube. Add extra shapes to this cube. Or take some away. Learn about the different ways of generating solid objects.
You also have to have an idea about how to build your model. What shape it is and what shapes you'll need, how you'll generate those shapes to bring everything together. Just forget about sprites and rendering for now, and learn how to make 3D models first (in your program of choice). Baby steps. Don't rush anything.
