OK, I have posted releant issues on GitHub for those tasks.

By the way, kamnet, your links in the 1st post are broken.

The archive pages should be deleted, as the new wiki should offer automatic translation.

LordAro wants to push for a 1.0.0 release although the tracks have not been technically examined yet:

Oh, and the links in your first post in this thread are still broken. :P

OpenMSX version 0.4.0

Post by Wuzzy »

Version 0.4.0 has been released!

This version replaces song number 1 with “Keep on Rolling” by Trolley Trev. Apart from that, the other change is only interesting for developers: This version is mostly for technical work behind the scenes to make sure the package can be built, because the build system was outdated

Enjoy! :)

Can anyone teach me how to create a music pack? I'm interested in creating a music pack that has all the midis from this thread that aren't currently in OpenMSX, I don't know if it could ever get a public release because of licensing and stuff like that but I mainly want to do it for personal use. I tried creating one by modifying OpenMSX's .obm file but it doesn't work and I think the checksums are the issue.

1. Make sure the files you're using comply with the General MIDI format. Many MIDI files are created with other MIDI standards in order to tune it to the specifics of the controller it's being used with, and they're just not alays going to be playable in a General MIDI device.

2. Creating the MD5 hash sums is the most time consuming part. Just make sure you're properly copying the hash sum into the .obm file.

3. Make sure there is at least one MIDI file listed for every group.

4. There's a maximum of 30 MIDI files plus one track for the OpenTTD theme at start-up.

Worked nicely once an important guideline was discovered: You need to start a new game before new added music files are selectable... You cannot change music on a running game.

If you modify the OBM file to add/remove MIDI files from the music set (or change file names) then yes, you'll have to exit the game and start again.
If you just replace one MIDI file with another of the same name, then it should use that as soon as you change away from that tune and change back to it again.
