SwissFan91's European Screenshots
Re: SwissFan91's European Screenshots
The attention to realism at Taunton and Watchett is exceptional, I assume you know the area well?

Thanks! Yes, I do.teccuk wrote:The attention to realism at Taunton and Watchett is exceptional, I assume you know the area well?
I had forgotten about the WSR - I can show screenshots of that!
Here's where the WSR joins the Bristol/London-Penzance mainline, and technically is the start of our journey, although trains rarely run from here to Minehead (any more!). The line to the right is towards Taunton, the bottom towards Tiverton Parkway, the top left into Norton Fitzwarren station (currently being rebuilt by the WSR) and on towards Minehead and the bottom left is now a siding (formerly the Devon & Somerset Railway to Barnstaple). The new triangle junction allows trains to reserve back onto the WSR. Here, the line runs past Norton Manor Camp, home to 40 Commando Royal Marines. Here we have Bishops Lydeard station, the official start of the WSR. Our locomotive is taking on water before running the length of the station to back onto the carriages before departing on our journey towards Minehead.

Re: SwissFan91's European Screenshots
After passing through Crowcombe and Stogumber (pretty standard stations) we reach Williton.
After Williton, we pass Doniford Halt (request stop) and Watchet (screenshot posted already) and reach Washford.
Here, at Blue Anchor, we pass a DMU making the journey back to Bishops Lydeard.

Our journey reaches it's end at Minehead. The newly-constructed turntable sits next to the main platform and the engine sheds.

Looks Nice, I would recommend using UKRS2 though.

I am? I think it is the most updated version that this Chill's Patchpack can handle.A321Pilot wrote:Looks Nice, I would recommend using UKRS2 though.
Re: SwissFan91's European Screenshots
Your using original UKRS, not UKRS2. I am guessing the Patchpack can't handle UKRS2.SwissFan91 wrote:I am? I think it is the most updated version that this Chill's Patchpack can handle.A321Pilot wrote:Looks Nice, I would recommend using UKRS2 though.
Re: SwissFan91's European Screenshots
The older versions yes but not the 'official' release.

Re: SwissFan91's European Screenshots
Oh well. The South-West only really uses a handful of trains anyway, so I think I have everything covered. People may say that I don't have the correct steam engines etc., but oh well.

Re: SwissFan91's European Screenshots
Here's the map. It's progressing well, and there's a complete double tracks between Taunton and Totnes now. Certain places (Taunton, Exeter, Newton Abbot, Torquay, Plymouth) have had much more attention paid to them.

Re: SwissFan91's European Screenshots
Ok, let's continue with the steam railway theme (it so happens that they are the easiest to complete!). The Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway, more specifically.
Here, our train arrives at Paignton, so we can board and travel towards Kingswear. The adjacent mainline station currently supports a service to Newton Abbot, but will eventually mirror services to elsewhere. Our train leaves the second station (Goodrington Sands) and powers on past the Network Rail sidings. At Churston, our train passes a train heading for Paignton.

Re: SwissFan91's European Screenshots
Our train plunges into Greenway Tunnel...
...and emerges on the banks of the River Dart estuary.
Our train finally pulls into Kingswear station, where it is possible to connect to ferries to Dartmouth.
Re: SwissFan91's European Screenshots
Is that Rural stations your using? Seems like it is a newer version then I am using right now.
Re: SwissFan91's European Screenshots
Nice roads GRF you got there
Seems like you are doing the same project as me

Re: SwissFan91's European Screenshots
Very Nice, I've done that Line and it seems extremly Accurate.
I think he is using a rather old version of the Surburban Stations set.CrossSide wrote:Is that Rural stations your using? Seems like it is a newer version then I am using right now.

Re: SwissFan91's European Screenshots
IIRC, I had to go back a few versions so I could get half-platforms or half-overpasses or something like that.

Re: SwissFan91's European Screenshots
I'm working on this again. Here's the (slow) progress:
[EDIT] May as well avoid the triple post. Here's Penzance - a very FGW-centric place. The focus of this shot is Long Rock TMD where FGW store stock, and Penzance station. We see an HST speed away from the station as it heads for London Paddington, whilst another loads in the station. A regional stopping service is also arriving at the station.

Re: SwissFan91's European Screenshots
Bite me, triple post. Does anyone know - or have any information on - the main freight routes in this part of the country? I want to try and recreate them semi-realistically..
Re: SwissFan91's European Screenshots
Off the top of my head you tend to get the occasional clay train, down that way I could take a look into it at work tomorrow if you want??

Re: SwissFan91's European Screenshots
Yeah, that'd be great! Thanks. I can easily substitute clay for sand ingame, as that is probably the closest industry (it making a big hole in the ground, and all.
