Can not buy

I can not buy airplanes and stocks form another company.

I just started a new game resinstalled with different transport tycoon deluxe files but i still get the same result. and that is where the purchase for airplane shoul dbe all i see is a grey area (button could not be clicked).

Is there a setting to switch off/on i am missing? i've been though most settings but i can not find anythign liek that. Also the original didn't have any such blockade. Another thing is that computer AI doesn't have any problem purchasing a plane or to for himself.

Transport Tycoon had a major flaw with respect to buying vehicles in the way you want; it did build the vehicles at the last depot build, which is *very* confusing for new users. Therefore we disallow that and you have to click on the depot (or hangar) to build vehicles. The greyed out "buy vehicle" button has been removed in the nightlies and thus will be removed in the next stable as it confuses original TT players like you too much.

The buying of shares is disabled by default due to a "easy money" bug in MP, but can be enabled via the settings.

I just saw that when i tried to buy a train and have seen the same gray button. however, i should point out that first thing i tried to do was to to click on hangar and got the gray button. I later finnalyl managed with a couple more clicks to get the plane. Since it was decided to change this feature you should also add another message with perhaps more explanation to the user (instead of "cannot buy plane").

how? where?

I thought it had something to do with MP because i read that in multiplayer it is disabeled and has to be enabled and you can then but only 75% of shares. however the same wiki article doesn't say where you enable it. do i need to use the console for that? Or command line before starting the game? I think this should be enabled by default as it is one of the legitimate income sources in SP game. in fact we call people buying other companies like that (with bank loans) Tycoons.

i don't know how i missed that. i was checking it in game and messed arround with paper settings, bribing etc, etc. and i use a translated version. when i get back home from work i will check to see what they put there as translation.

Keep in mind that if you want to change settings of a already started game, you should do that from inside the game.

So,
1. Load your save game
2. press and hold the diskette-symbol button in the toolbar
3. Select advanced settings (it's called "patch settings" in 0.6.x and earlier)
4. Follow the instructions above of which setting to change.
