Cannot purchase vehicles In ttd

Have istalled TTD from original disk, but I cannot purchase any vehicles. This also happens in open TTd.

What am I missing?. Using XP/SP2.

Sorry, that's not very descriptive of the problem, so a screenshot of the issue would probably help.

When trying to purchase a vehicle to use, the icon you click on to select vehicle is blacked out. I cannot get past this problem either in TTD or OPENTTD

What is your game date? Do you have any vehicles sets loaded?

You have to buy a depot first, and then click on that depot to build a vehicle.

Comment: this is not a solution to your problem.

You cannot build from the vehicle list. It is only for reference. First you have to build a depot. There you'll see the button "Build vehicle".

Because you still didn't build a depot. Click on the road construction icon (or railroad/dock/airport construction icon), select depot in road construction window, build depot, click on the depot and then build a vehicle.

Finally figured my problem. Thanks everyone. Trying to run TTD and OpenTTD like Locomotion. Had to go back and do what everyone posted. Once again thanks.
