Industrial Buildings and whatnot
An idea I've come up with: Have certain houses take in other cargo (e.g. Steel, Grain, etc...), then spit out small amounts of goods (or food). From what I've seen in the wiki it's possible, but I just don't have the experience to do it myself. Things like Ore Mines and Steel Mills could still be big, but factories wouldn't exist and be replaced by these smaller factories.
Also, this would finally give a use for trucks, without having to build so many of them!

Re: Industrial Buildings and whatnot
Only industries can have output that is dependent on input. If that is not an issue for you, then sure, go code houses that will produce a constant quantity of goods, no matter whether you feed them 0 units or 5000 units each month,
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

I suggest you code garbage.
This is not an offence. I mean houses generate "garbage" that ends in a pit or recycle plant somewhat similar to Simutrans.

And we'll have tons of garbage waiting as we have with passengers? It was discussed several times and was decided that it would become a headache.athanasios wrote:I suggest you code garbage.![]()

Re: Industrial Buildings and whatnot
Just as it happens to be in so called real life.
Re: Industrial Buildings and whatnot
so? what is more important for a game... to be exactly like real life, or to be fun?

Re: Industrial Buildings and whatnot
Fun of course
But then... more challenge often means more fun. I just started playing with newindustries, and it's like playing totally diffirent game! No more hauling grain and livestock from all over the map to a single factory.
It is more realistic. It is more challenging. It is more fun.
On the other hand, I play with inflation turned off... It doesn't really add any challenge apart from confusion when comparing prices.
Back to topic. I would find garbage scatterd all over city stations fun, but that's my opinion

1.) Code a patch that would allow industries to pop up next to eachother and
2.) Create smaller, 1x1 to 2x2 industries?
Re: Industrial Buildings and whatnot
1) It already existsNormandy333 wrote:I see... Then would it be possible to do

2) They already exist, at least 2x2 ones. (I am playing with Pikkabird's Basic Industries at the moment)
