Downloading 32bpp files question

Post by Indraunt »

I'm just wondering if any completed 32bpp files are actually downloadable - There's dozens of examples of whats going on, screenshots, buildings on the wiki, but aside from the new post for the grass (http://tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?f=36 ... 23db08aafe), I can't actually find any of it to download and test to in game. So is any of it ready? Can any of it be tested out yet?

On another note, I'm planning on doing some 32bpp work myself, but am reluctant to do so because there's no concrete documentation as to whats been claimed or completed yet. As y'all know the wiki is outdated in this area, I read somewhere someone is working on a solution, but why not just a stiicky thread where only the artists can post with a list of whats there?

One final thing - Is there some kind of 'official roadmap' with the graphics? as-in, is there a system to the design of it all such as 'lets get all the temperate stuff done first', or are artists free to make what they want?

I guess thats it for now. I'm loving the direction OTTD is taking, and the 32bpp graphics are turning out amazing. Kudos to all!

Not really, no.

Yeah, we know. It's being worked on. To my knowledge, soon there's going to be a proper repo and better documentation.

Most artists have gone inactive since they posted their work, so a sticky of this kind would really go nowhere.

When we have a repo for 32bpp graphics, we have to prod the artists for activity reports and new, actually usable material.
One final thing - Is there some kind of 'official roadmap' with the graphics?
No, I don't think there is. If you're willing to contribute, I suggest you start with the temperate climate, so far it's gotten the most attention and therefore is the most likely to be finished in 32bpp first.

I think we need someone who coordinate the work on the 3D graphics. I doesn't know who would be the right person for it, because I'm quite new to this forum. The material library for example needs to be extended. Otherwise the buildings are going to look unsuitable.

Maybe it is time to build a grf out of all the graphics. It would help to get a first impress of how the game looks like with the new graphics.

My tropical flats may be used if you want to have uncomplete :) work in your openttd.
EDIT: I updated the building, but there is no need to upload it twice so take a swing here http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php? ... start=3180

Now you can download the tropical bank too, if you want :)
