doubleTracks
Is it possible to make a switch that does so you can build doubletrack on one tile (not two)
I think that should be a great swithch if you have no space for doubletiles in a complex network.
I have seen some picture of that but i dont remember where LOL

Re: doubleTracks
afaik double tracks exist in railroad tycoon
in XTTX (all versions of TT), it would be a little complicated especially when building signals
my 2 cents

Re: doubleTracks
Ok. Thanks anyway.
Re: doubleTracks
Its a currently impossible task because it would mean a complete change in the way graphics are displayed. There are a couple of mock-ups on the Czech tt-pages (which look very very good, but are merely just that), but the likelihood of it becoming reality is low. There'd be too much change.

Re: doubleTracks
Double tracks on a single tile in TTD equates to trams.
The game would need to be rescaled, redrawn, re-programmed, and effectively rewritten from square 2 to support two rail tracks per tile (that means 4 diagonal tracks possible on a tile, wouldn't work).
Better to simply have more tiles to play with...

Re: doubleTracks
I agree that if you need rails in a tight space, build trams. Part of the challenge of building complex rail networks in TTD is to fit them into the space available. We can't just patch ways round anything that makes it difficult.
Moreover, it would require massive re-writing and re-drawing of the way rails work, and I don't think the benefits it would putatively bring would be anywhere near worth the enormous effort.

Re: doubleTracks
I like it the way it s now. There are different features which makes enhanced gameplay possible. I mean, build on slopes and on top off tunnels and at the difficult places near towns you kan build tracks. You better consider an trainset and a recoded tram way to build with.

Re: doubleTracks
Oskar is working on the new map array, which (among other things), will make larger maps more feasible, when it is eventually done.
I see that trying to squash more stuff onto one tile to mean that theren't aren't enough tiles to go round (if you see my logic ).
To answer your question directly, it is quite probable that TTDP will eventually have larger map support.

Don't get too excited. Oskar's been telling us about his newMapArray for a while now. These things take time

Re: doubleTracks
Well, how much time have other groundbreaking features like PBS taken since first announced? It's only that this statement excites me because someone clearly spells out "larger maps in TTD may be possible" as oppossed to "Oskar is working on a new map array" (which I couldn't translate yet into what it means for the game - until now). And I can't count the times I've read "there won't be larger maps in TTD"...Dave Worley wrote:Don't get too excited. Oskar's been telling us about his newMapArray for a while now. Re: doubleTracks
Going back to Two tracks on one tile, would look nice, but then again, Junctions would be interesting
