I am confused about GRF and Nightly Builds
This is the first thing of the kind I have tried and I am seriously confused. I have OpenTTD 0.5.2 on vista premium. But I have no idea how to change it to nightly builds or how to add newGRF.
Can some one please explain to me what to do... Step by Step

Nightlies are a separate download found here:

Adding GRFs guide here:

Hope this helps

I havent actually downloaded a nightly so i can't help you with that. But newGRFs i can.
Here is a list that you can download:
http://wiki.openttd.org/index.php/GRF_list
You download the (usually zip) file of the newGRF. Find the directory for OpenTTD. It should be something like C:/Program Files/OpenTTD. Open the data folder and create a new folder called NewGRF (or whatever you want - it doesnt really matter). Then extract and copy the file in the zip with the file suffix .grf
Load the game and click NewGRF Settings (bottom right hand corner). Then click add. You can now add your NewGRFs one by one.
Is that better?

Btw welcome to the forum - i hadnt noticed your post count until now.
Im not sure about parameters but they will probably be mentioned in the readme file you usually get with the NewGRFs if you need to change/add them. I havent bothered with them and they work fine.
The NewGRFs will start working with your next new game. Bear in mind some do not work with each other. These are mainly vehicle sets due to the limited number of vehicle slots.
If someone else could explain parameters i would gladly like to know what they are and do.
Hope you enjoy OTTD.

About those parameters:
Some grfs accept parameters, others don't. It depends on the grf what parameters one can use and what they do.
Almost no grfs need to have parameters set in order to work. Most of the time they change certain functionality or make the grf compatible with another grf.
Read the readme (usually included in the zip file) to see if a grf accepts parameters and what they do.
Hope it's all clear now.
