:D The question is what would 153 311 think of an OTTD meet on it? What fate would the event suffer? Would the entire party disappear never to be heard of again except for the faint screams of those trapped for eternity as it trundled around the network?

Although, in reality, it would be pretty cool, yes. I wonder if somewhere like Barrow-Hill-Roundhouse, Butterly, or the GCR/GCR(N) would allow a meet in a 153

Brianetta was a nice human - it was a pleasure to be around such people with a shared interest. 2008 feels like a very very long time ago.
The 2007-2009 meets were rather good. 2010 was nice but not many folk made the trip up to Edinburgh. Manchester, Crewe and London 2.0 were all pretty good too, maybe not as busy as the earlier meets but a nice variety of people and in some good locations. Glasgow 2014, with a trip round the transport museum, was fun, and a nice precursor to my stag night! I couldn't make 2016 (our second child having just been born a few weeks prior!), but it was nice to see everyone again at the 2017 meet in Birmingham, including a nice little trip to Stourbridge Town on the people mover. :D

And there ends the list of meets listed on the wiki. Though one of my favourite meets was the 'unofficial' Sydney TT-Forums meet in 2011. That was a great day, with some fantastic people. :)

Maybe a TT Meet 2022 could be on the cards... would be fun to catch up with some old faces, and meet some new ones!

I've made the trip from Sweden to the meet twice, but it's been a few years since 2016. A 2022 meet sounds great, assuming travel is back on. And assuming I feel comfortable flying with the climate going from "oops" to "oh God please no!".

18-19 hours on 4+ trains will get you from Stockholm to Brussels (RailEurope suggests Stockholm to Malmo, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Cologne, Brussels), then just hop on board the Eurostar to London - call it 24 hours each way by train. The ticket is price is apparently only £61 for nearly 1000 miles of travel, too, which seems very reasonable to me!

Then of course we announce the meet is being held in Kyle of Lochalsh...

Copenhagen seems like a reasonable compromise to me, too. Thanks for offering, Owen!

So I am starting to know how Andel felt with 153311.

For a time last year, I was ending up with the same unit, 700054, at least 2-3 times a week doing Cambridge runs.
I went to learn Sevenoaks-Blackfriars for a few weeks in summer, looking forward to ticking off some different units on a new route. And what should turn up a number of times?
700054.

I go back to the GN side... it's there again. It was in the yard everytime I went down there over the space of a month as well. And it always seems to bring misfortunate or back luck to me.

That bloody unit. I cannot get away from it even on a totally different route.
I went back to Sevenoaks last week for a refresher... I end up on it again. Jump on a train yesterday, it's 700054 again.

So yes. I believe that this is modern traction equivalent to 153311. The spawn of the beast.

So out of way too much spare time, I went to my spotting records, because I'm sad and its all-digital on a simple site i made. With the exception of two others, it's the most seen 700 for me, seen 5 times, the only one higher is 700105 (seen 7 times) and 700118 (seen 9 times). I spend quite a lot of time between Blackfriars & Brighton, so it must appear on the routes through there quite frequently compared to others, or i have just randomly been there when it was and others were not! I've also somehow only got a few more 700s to see before I have a full house of them, shows how many times I've been to Brighton!

It's not just me then! That unit is following everyone haha.

I have about 7 more 8-car RLU's to drive, and 8 more 12-car FLU's. Then I can tick off the entire 700 fleet as well

Some say that it was an attempt to "clean up" 153 311's image by "going green" and moving to electric, some say it was simply that 153 311 had accumulated enough parts from the shells of the fallen MUs around it that it was able to continue plaguing the network behind a mask with a friendly face, all we know is that it's 700054 and it's stalking behaviour is all too familiar...

I've still never spotted 153311, although I think it now runs for Network Rail, so may pop up anywhere.

The train that stalked (or well, did) me was 144022, with 39 recorded spots. Presumably, I saw this a lot on the Penistone Line when I used to live there, although haha, it's out of service now. I win! Next up was a bunch of 185s, between 30 & 26 views, and then 322484, I can only assume this used to do Doncaster<->Leeds via my now local station, Wakefield Westgate. Again I think this has been reassigned somewhere else now, after Northern dropped them. So I'm probably relatively safe from it.

Last week, I nearly got through the whole week without 054.
Then as I'm wandering out the yard... it rolls past me.

This week, first shift... it's found me already

This week I only had one shift where I'd drive a single 700, and guess which one it turned out to be.... :x

Previous weeks I've ended up travelling on it or having it literally creep up behind me when I was sitting in the back-cab of another train.
It stalks me... always.

It's now blue and we share the same employer.

This is just harassment now.

We're... taking a break.
Not been on it for nearly a couple of months now!
Then instead I ended up on 700154 the other day...
