90%? does that mean BR runs the remaining 10%?

A shame that there are no dressed-up class 91s on that site.

Yeah... JP meant 46% and 44% + 10% stake that GNER would have.

Bear in mind this only takes effect if Virgin/Stagecoach win the ECML franchise. I'm still thinking they might well not.

If they win the ECML, they almost certainly won't win the XC.

Although semi-nationalisation is maybe what this country needs. One company to control all Anglo-Scottish routes?

Lets just hope it is a half decent company that is more interested in the customer experience than making money. GNER are/were good in that respect.

You'd think the man to the right of the HST would notice it keeps spontaneously changing livery.

Though he shock of it all must have frozen him as he never moves.

I think Virgin deserve the ECML... it would make for the feather in Branson's cap...

Yes... Virgin have done well. The only problems I've got with them are the removal of Summer trains from Blackpool, and Liverpool-South other than their Pendolinos.

The main problem enthusiasts have is the fact they replaced all their loco-hauled stock.

But if you use that as a reason, you're obviously gay.

Because everyone knows gay people are more likely to prefer a loco-hauled train. :?

Sorry, "gay" as an insult bugs me for some reason, so I felt like commenting. Back on topic...

You know by now I mean it in jest.

The truth is that you're actually just a pathetic dreamer if you want to see loco-hauled stock back on the line.

I suppose its no more different than people paying a hundred odd pound for a railtour so they can be pulled up and down the country by a Steam engine.

It is really.

The froth I've heard from people who are like "Bring back 86s/87s/mk3s on the West Coast". It's a joke.

Well you've got a point - certainly if an 87 with a rake of mk3's was involved in the Grayrigg derailment rather than the Pendolino it would have been a lot worse injury wise and i expect then they wouldnt be so keen to have them back on the line.

And they're 30-odd/40-odd year old locos that cost a lot of money to maintain.

Well I like the 86s/87s going because it means that the Norwich to London line gets "new" coaches. Well not "new" but new to the GEML. Makes my life a bit more pleasant :P

Makes no odds to me - a 390 or a 360 on the GEML means I get some nice space... a 90 on GEML means I get a table and some first class... GNER means I go bankrupt :P
