Shortly after I joined these forums, I have been inspired by some of the great screenshots to build my networks and use the vehicle sets more realistic. This includes deploying the goods from factories etc. to several cities rather than pumping all x-thousand crates to a single city (which in RL wouldn't be able to handle and sell all the stuff). So I deliver only a certain amount of goods per time unit to a given city (depending on the city size). Same goes for industries as well (power plants, factories etc. are also restricted; if the delivering resources all double their productions, I build new tracks to a different industry).
With this in mind, I wonder if such a restriction could be implemented via TTDPatch. If the maximum amount of cargo is reached in a given month, the excess cargo should be waiting at the station until the next month.
Example: If a goods train delivers 250 units to a city with a demand of 100 units per month, the first 100 are "consumed" immediately (or with a certain delay?), the other 150 are stored. When the next month begins, another 100 units are consumed, leaving 50 for the third month, and so on.
In addition, a steel mine or factory could increase its production (and thus the amount of cargo accepted) when it is served with, say, 90+% over a certain time, e.g. 2 or 3 years. In RL, a factory making profits would also increase its capacities, thus accepting and producing more. (The other side, when an industry isn't served at all, thus closing down after a certain time, is already in TTD itself, as we all know).

Cities, not yet.
Industries; it has already been done. Grab Pikka's UKRSI, or George's ECS implementation.
