Need a tip for idiots trains...

Post by MagicBuzz »

Here is a sample of my problem:

A station have some free ways, and 2 of then (1 free and 1 occupied) have an exit behind.
An way have been designed to avoid the station for train wich need only pass throught (but not in way point orders).

Every train passing throught the station use the same way, and now a train is refiting in, so a train stop just ahead, blocking all the traffic causing an enormous traffic jam (more than 40 trains used to be blocked by tghis problem... Everytime must give orders manualy to avoid the problem... :/

Any tip to force trains that just pass through the station to avoid the station and use the way I designed just on the top of the station ?

I think you need two-way signals at every entrance, so you need to change the 2 signals on the left tracks
Well, back to work, lot's of it in the near future

hmmm, I'm as lost as you :?
But you could put a waypoint on the far top line, or use spiff's method and put a two-way siggy at the station platform entrance

off-course waypoints are excellent for this case, I just think the 2-way signal will do the trick
At least try it before you have to redo the whole entrance to put some checkpoint stations

Yea, but it'd be a shame to let that bypass line go to waste :P

Sorry, my computer crashed and i lost my saved game :/

But, I wasn't able to add a new waypoint : city refused me to build a new station...

But double sided signals had solved (not completely) the problem.

Now, I take care about having a bigger place arroud my station to be able to add more efficient ways arround the stations.

That's always the problem, at first you don't need that much space, but later on you regret choices you made

I think they kick ass! I just wish he had included the armored wagon in his special passenger\mail car setups :-( it looks odd to have a thalys or ICE with the special cars then have the 1 or 2 clunky armored cars ........

Nah spiff I do have to use them  If i don't I usually have steam trains travelling like diesel ones :P But, like I said I don't care that much.... but wait, lol I think I know why, it's cause they're not in player colours, that's why they look a little wierd

edit: lol, I just realised the "newtrains" switch in the config... but no i'll still use the new trains... otherwise everyone's save will look wierd or something

I'm glad someone agrees, I only use passengers and mail with the new trains, those armored cars look so silly when you add them
Has anyone ever contacted Michael about this ?

Well it's not so much that I hate them or something... it's just that a red engine looks a little wierd pulling along some yellow (or something) coal cars  But I do like the "half-full" carriages (even though they've been out a while), it adds a little "touch" to the game...
