TTD on WIN98SE

Help I am having problems installing TTD on windows 98se when I click on setup it says directx not installed properly then quits why when i have directx 8.1 on my system

strange .... maybe some files are missing .. did you try to reinstall Dx8.1 ?? or try Dx9 ... I know TTD is working from Dx5

Yes i reinstalled 8.1 and no joy.
I downloaded TTD windows version from this site cos i thought it would run better than my dos version

That was kind suggestion by Spiff, mr. Mattman. So you might have left the doh!!! out of your reply. We are trying to help you as good as possible and in that we consider every oppurtunity with you. I know there is one corrupted TTD for Windows version on the Internet. You might be unlucky and in posession of that version. Before you start downloading a new one, try to install Dx 9 as suggested, your computer can only get better from it. You can always consider to continue playing in DOS-shell if nothing works. I do that too, much to my pleasure.

That doesn't matter :D

Anyway, if you have Win98, you can try the dos version , or am I completely wrong about it :?:

I will suggest to download again Win version from different source. I got two Win versions bad. Will not install correctly. The third one worked like a charm. And:

I appologize if doh!!! seemed offensive but it was ment in the context of doh!!! my computer is playing up .
Thanks for all the advise though I will try all of it and hopefully get somewhere
