question about train size
so does it matter if you have 2 trains with 5 cars going from one place to anthoer or one train with 10 cars?
Yes.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

One is cheaper (both to buy and to run); the other results in better station ratings, and hence more cargo to transport, and more income, to offset the larger purchase and running costs.

It surely makes a difference: A short train is lighter, can accelerate faster and has less problems with mountains. This results in faster transport and hence more income. On the other hand, longer trains can carry more on a single run, which also has an obvious influence on income. In the end, it's probably all a matter of trial and error.
