Regarding bridges, you can build a bridge across 15 squares or so for about $20k, but if the bridge ends on a slope in the wrong direction then it costs 15k for only doing it over one square of water... is this really correct? And wouldn't it be a little more realistic with at least a slight cost increase for bridges?
Also industries, weren't they much more affected in TTD by the usage of them? That is, the heavier you use an industry the more likely it is to grow and become much greater... I cannot say for sure, but in OTTD it seems to be pretty much random industries improving each month, I remember having coal mines with possibly around 500 in monthly produce. And now you are truly getting spammed with those economic messages, doesn't matter if they are set as summary, takes almost the entire month to show them all (if you don't close them by hand), and then there comes another month of economic changes, so all other news are delayed heavily. (Shouldn't industries generally be much more expensive? At the moment you can start building them after only playing 10-15 years when starting at 1950)
But don't take this the wrong way, OpenTTD is one of the best projects I know of right now, tremendous work really, can't wait for the new map array either so that you can build bridges over diagonal tracks etc.
Regarding sharp turns etc, just as an idea, wouldn't it be better to slow the train down during the entire duration of being in a turn (not only the engine, while any car is in the turn its maximum speed is lower), which would make shorter trains benefit and also have a less explosion-like braking in corners.
PS. Am I the only one to get cranky about the trains breaking down all the time (even on reduced) even when they are new and regularily services (which also makes them skip the unloading-station and do another lap on the track, having them not skip orders to go to depots would have been wonderful).

Doesn't this belong in the suggestions section?
That said, the reason the bridges cost more is becasue if it ends on a corner, it takes up a square of water too. If you ever try deleting squares of water, you may understand this cost - initially, it costs abot £8k to delete a square of water. The bridge (on a diagonal square) will take up the water underneath
