Re: Your Desktop Screens, Wallpapers
I guess my desktop mostly reflects the amount of time I waste looking at webcomics...
It also shows me the weather, the current position of the planets, and where my cursor is (it stares at it ).
That dock thing at the top autohides - I also have:
A full application menu in the top left corner...
An autohiding clock/calendar half way down the right-hand side...
A system tray in the lower right...
A menu showing open windows centre bottom...
And a virtual-desktop switcher lower left .
As might be obvious, I decided that sane taskbar/menu setup didn't suit me .
KDE4 is good at letting me have my own layout .

Re: Your Desktop Screens, Wallpapers
I have far too many apps open all the time to have a pretty desktop wallpaper... So I'm pretty much just showing off the fact I have three monitors.
Left to right on my taskbar is; "My computer", Control Panel, Opera, Windows Live Messenger, Trillian, Steam, Skype, Zune, Chrome, Visual Studio 2010, Netbeans, Filezilla, Media Centre, Remote desktop, Keepass, old OTTD, Nightly OTTD, World of Tanks, Windows Resource Monitor, Putty, Paint.

Neat! I remember an extension for Mac System 6 and 7 when I was a kid, that put similar eyes in the menu bar, and they would stare at your cursor the same way. May still have it on floppy too.FLHerne wrote:I guess my desktop mostly reflects the amount of time I waste looking at webcomics...

Re: Your Desktop Screens, Wallpapers
Here is A LINK to my last post in this thread from way back in January of 2011. Below is the latest incarnation of this desktop. As I have stated in the past I tend towards form and function over imagery. I also tend to stick with something that suits my needs although I will modify it as those needs (or my own whims) change. Enjoy.

Re: Your Desktop Screens, Wallpapers
This is what my desktop looks like although I've normally got Steam Friends, Trillian and IRC open on the right most screen and the middle screen is used for full screen programs and video media. The left monitor is used for anything else including audio media players and gadgets.
The two grey areas indicate the size of the two monitors. They're 1280x1024 while the central screen is 1680x1050. Hence the black space under them.Last known as: Weirdy

That's a lot of nothing. I guess it saves energy on oled screens, but on normal screens you might just as well go with a pretty picture

It's more because I don't feel like I see my desktop enough to warrant having an image...FooBar wrote:That's a lot of nothing. I guess it saves energy on oled screens, but on normal screens you might just as well go with a pretty picture

My desktop is similarly exciting.SkeedR wrote:It's more because I don't feel like I see my desktop enough to warrant having an image...
It looked like this until I accidentally wiped my hard disk when trying to recover it after it had come loose (the result being damaged, but still working, connectors) when being moved from the US to the UK back in December 2010. After reinstalling it I never bothered setting a desktop wallpaper again. Maybe I should. The only bit of it I tend to see is the blue bit to the right of my second screen, though, as in the second attachment.
And yes, I have far too many random text files on my desktop.

I use my tablet more than my desktop now, so I might as well post that.

Re: Your Desktop Screens, Wallpapers
this is my (from my pov) reasonable desktop, 1366x768 *sighs jealous when he sees those huge desktop screens*
yes, i am a gamer. sadly enough is my pc not very capable of playing battlefield 3 , but other games like assasin's creed, COD4, MW2, MW3 NFS-U and NFS-HP2 work fine and of course OpenTTD here is the screen my pc is mostly at, i seem to use my pc more as ultra large MP3-player rather than for some "school" things.
yes, my music taste is rather wide, but i like house/trance mixes of pop songs the most
