People taking on tasks and responsibilites.
ok guys, well my holidays are coming to an end, i have pretty much done what i set out to do in these holidays.
now its the time where people other than me need to start taking "control" of areas of the GFX development, and become self professed leaders in the area. by the time i am active in the GFX development again i hope to be asking you guys the questions, not vice versa.
i have had a lot of help from people for various tasks and its all really helpfull. but now is the time were you guys need to be taking comand and getting help from other people yourselves.
Building replacement.
current no buildings have been replaced. for either 32bpp patch, or 32bpp 128 pixel wide future GFX.
someone needs to get keen on this area and start co-ordinating artists. this means we need to have a list of "all current buildings" (that means ALL of them) and a thumbnail of each. that info and the thumbnails need to go in this page for 128pixel wide replacement.
http://wiki.openttd.org/index.php/Enhan ... eplacement
Special object replacement
same as above, but we need someone who is dedicated to getting things like GUI elements, Explosions, Smoke, Steam, Electrcal sparks.... all done.
we "cannot" copy what is in the original game and republish it with less alpha.... (as is being done in the interum) these GFX are still under copyright, we need to create new equivalent GFX of these,
*Vehicles*
This is a massive area and has been listed (to some degree) already. but we need people interested in trains, planes, boats.... to take on a sub section each and monitor organise and co-ordinate this.
the tasks these specialised individuals need to control are.
Thumbails (one of each item) in the wiki.
you need to co-ordinate artists by telling keen people what to do. to what scales, and generally communicate with them to help them understand what we are doing.
you need to manage the wikis, once the artists have done their work(even if that means telling the artist to update it).
you need to collect their files.... (untill we have a GFX website)
you need to co-ordinate getting their images into the game.
we need massive deligation. team work, and co-ordination for this to be successfull. and that means ANYONE with ANY talents to offer to do somthing. i am incapable of doing the entire wiki, at the same time as making automated files for artists, at the same time as creating sets for the game at the same time as trying to put them into the game, at the same time as doing a degree. its an open source community and there are hunreds or thousands of people playing the game.
any and all input to any area of it is helpfull. if you are not a coder and not an artist, then PLEASE donate your time to organising the wiki (to make life fast and easy for the coders and artists)
thanks everyone. and have fun.
we are really rolling now, and i want to see this continue to happen.
the faster this work gets done the faster the 32bpp patch gets out, and the faster the 128pixel wide sprites get out also.

well i really hope to do some buildings, but somehow everytime i try to remake one, they end up being to blocky and very boring looking
( http://img289.imageshack.us/img289/1815/house012wr.gif )
So i will give it a try again, over more than a week i will have no internet for 2 weeks so i probably get very bored and will (hopefull) start model some buildings... i'm just to lazy to get started, but when i finally get started then i'll model allot
but i won't promise anything

about toyland i could try to restart my legoland set but this time using 32bit graphics the sets trains and wagons are sadly too big for the old gfx(they loose detail and don't look good anymore but i didn't try it at 32 bit colors only 256 so they may improve) but it will look fantastic on the 128 pack of the gfx
the last render of our stuff on 256 colors(i will try to ask aydan to rerender them):

Buildings are often blocky and boring looking. You need to add rudimentary colours and textures before dismissing your own work.Jeffrey wrote:well i really hope to do some buildings, but somehow everytime i try to remake one, they end up being to blocky and very boring looking

Considered writing Chris Sawyer an email asking if you could?Alltaken wrote:we "cannot" copy what is in the original game and republish it with less alpha.... (as is being done in the interum) these GFX are still under copyright, we need to create new equivalent GFX of these,
Siggy not gonna work unless someone allows javascripting...

would rather not.}T{Reme [Q_G] wrote: Considered writing Chris Sawyer an email asking if you could?
besides the amount of work required is not huge. and its personally satisfying

i was however thinking of emailing the GFX person for the game and having a chat to him
