Editing vehicles and Industries
Hi
I've been looking at the website of the guy who has edited loads of new locos and industries...is it possible just to ADD these in the game rather than replacing existing ones?
How is it done, just using the sprite extractor and tdalter? Is that it for the new vehicles? And what kind of scope is there for new industries - can we change the catchment area, size etc?
Also what kind of scope is there for changing things like map size, city growth and things like this? It would be incredible if these things can be changed (but I doubt it because I think the map size is stored in a numerical value that needs to change type to be able to increase it...).
I'd be interested in learning this kindof stuff from anyone who knows about it cos I've done some gameediting b4 but only just got back into TT the last week - must say, this game is 7 years old and its still unbelievable. We really could make this thing into a monster with the amount of people on it now.
Cheers
Mark

Well,
it's not possible to add new vehicles, they have to replace existing ones (that's what i heard)
i think they can make the cities grow bigger, i heard Marcin talk about unlimited city growth, he may have fuond the routine
The map size is a definit limit, only 255 in a byte !
This TTD patch makes it grow indeed and with the new trains coming up it will get better and better
No new industries possible i'm affraid, that's too difficult, what they did was introduce new 'goods' trucks, we will be able to transport cars, chemical products and boxed products, in fact this will all remain goods in the game, but you can make it more realistic

No new ships at all.
Due to some oversight on CS's part, it's only possible to have a choice of, in total, 11 ships. These are currently all in use, so there won't be any new ones.
What might be possible though, is different sets of ships that you choose before starting a game. Maybe even different sets for each climate, but never more than 11 different ships in a single game.

Choosing the ships before you play !
This is a very good idea, but 11 ships ? that's enough for most climates
I mean: what have we now
- 1 for oil, the one with the 3 green domes, that's enough
- 2 for passengers, hovercraft (fast) and the liner (big)
- 1 for goods, the new one with 950 crates of goods (yeah)
- 1 for livestock
- 1 for grain or steel
- 1 for al the rest: coal, wood, iron ore, ...
this is 7, i'm using 7 types, so there is room for 4 more
perhaps the new one for cars, what else ???
if i forgot something , then forgive me, i can't check it right now

Don't contradict me. They are all in use. Just because you don't use them doesn't mean no-one else does...
- Oil tanker
- Liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker
- Ferry
- Passenger liner
- Hovercraft
- Reefer
- Livestock carrier
- General cargo vessel
- Bulk freighter
- Container carrier
- Piece goods carrier
