Enhanced Cargo Concept

Post by G-Klav »

This Cargo Concept, how do it work?

Will every industry involved produce every goods involved, eg both chemical products, cars and packed goods? :?

Or will just the factory produce cars? :?

I would like it like this
factory produces cars
oil refinery produces chemical products
sawmill produces packed goods
this looks logical
Well, back to work, lot's of it in the near future

Yes, indeed, they will each " 'produce' " different types of goods. 8)
But in reality they will each produce GOODS, and when you load them to your train carriages you will see the different types... Remember, there are still 'goods'. So you can go to a sawmill with your car cariage and load cars... :P
It all depends on the quantity of realism you want in the game...

Mati is right, they will always be called "goods". It's not possible to add new cargo types, just to make the existing ones a bit more exciting.

so if you play it like i have described then it will be realistic
although , a factory can produce all 3
a sawmill only packed goods and an oil refinery only chem.products
this will add more fun to the game once more
Well, back to work, lot's of it in the near future

That's the plan, anyway :)

It's still fairly far off though, unfortunately. But it will be in 1.9.1, whenever that happens to come out.

I think I get it now.

So the Oil refinery produce chemical products. And this will stand in the window?
But, you can go there with your car waggon and get cars, because it's still goods.

Is it like that?

The steel pipes, they are still 'steel', right?

But you didn't say palettizied goods, that must ALSO be from an Sawmill, right?

Yes, the goods will still be goods, it's just the trucks that get diversified
internally everything will remain 'goods', so the factory will still produce 'goods'
you will be able to load chem. products at a sawmill, it's all up to you
you can make it realistic !
Well, back to work, lot's of it in the near future

OK, thanks!

But, you will be payed more if you sell cars than if you sell chem. products, thanks to larger capacity of the car waggon. That's good.

But, how will it show in the station window? Will it just be goods there, but then, when your car waggon enters the station and loads, THEN it will "be" cars?

No, they will always be 'goods' but you will see when you load them as 'cars'. :P Remember that this is only a graphics change (and some other things that I don't know of... ). So the things you are transporting are the same... but you see them different. Adding realism... For me this is a great idea. 8)

I like these new goods types, cause then, like in real life, you can have "mixed" freight trains - like container cars (pretty much all we ever use here in oztralia - containers and coal) mixed with some box cars (doors) with another box car (roof opening) as well - making the trains look more realistic.

I love these ideas of the new goods, cause it lets people drive wooden cars... But think of all the fun we can have with a 7x7 station at a combination sawmill/oil refinery/factory (for when we get carried away with the new industry contruction :P) we can reason that the oil refinery is making the chemicals, the factory the cars and so on, even if the train gets filled up (cars, chemicals and packed goods) by the 5 oil tankers i have built....

Much better than trying to suggest that the oil refinery processes all 100,000+ litres of oil i just unloaded over 1 day...
