I hate linux....Marco wrote:Yes, but Windows on 10 things you want to do, 8 time crashes.
Linux on 10 things you want to do, 0,000000000000000000000000000001 x 10^-34 crashes. And when crash, crash only the program, not all.
windows XP hardly crashes and when it does you can reboot...
Linux crashed out on me once and I had to format C: cause there was no rebooting....

Mainly because there are a lot more programs for windows AND those programs are a lot easier to install... I tried installing icq on linux... it took me like 15minutes..
Linux can be very secure to use as a server though....

Ahem. /me clears throat, ready for a long detailed explanationArundel wrote:What is the difference between Windows, Mac, Unix, Linx?!?
Windows is an operating system available mainly for Intel-based computers. Windows 1.0 was released in the mid-1980s, and ran on top of DOS. Windows 2.x, 3.x, 95, 98 and ME all ran on DOS, but Windows 2000 (based on NT) doesn't.
Ack, I can't be bothered to write this all out... basically, they are all different operating systems. You can't natively run Mac OS on Windows, or Windows on a Mac, as they are built for different processors. There was once an Intel version of Rhapsody (so basically you could run a copy of Mac OS natively on a PC (but not run Mac programs), in a way - see Nathan Lineback's GUI Gallery). Linux and UNIX are available for many different platforms, including Intel and Motorola (PowerPC - which is what Macs use) - Mac OS X is based on UNIX.

Mac OS X, another fine example of how an OS *should* be written. Rock solid, unix based, good gui. (Though I'm using linux more often latelyorudge wrote:Ahem. /me clears throat, ready for a long detailed explanationArundel wrote:What is the difference between Windows, Mac, Unix, Linx?!?

I didn't specifically mention it, but I was describing how it went from based on DOS to not based on DOS.Mati wrote:(Clear my throat) You forgot Win Xp mate..
