TTD startscreen

Post by Arundel »

I'd like in the next patch or in TT2 for the startscreen (where you select the game) I'd like the background to switch between different scences on TTD/TT2, like the sub-artic, then the sub-tropical and you get the picture.
See YA all later
TTFN Ta Ta for now

Owen told me that the start-screen is a saved game...
He told me how to get it and how to access it, but I could't figure it out.
Owen, can you post the saved game here in the fourms? Thanks mate. :P

not difficult
you can find it here:
http://www.ttdpatch.com/tools.html#saves
it's a zipfile called titles.zip
but it's not a savedgame that you can access, it's called title.dat

Thanks, you still got plenty of time I believe.... :)
So, we can get any of our saved games, change them into .dat and we can change the startscreen? Is that it?

SV1Codec is your friend. :)
Creating your own TITLE.DAT

Ever wanted to replace the game that is used as a background for the TT's main menu with one of your own games? With SV1Codec, you can.

The key is the -td command line option. If you specify it while encoding a 'big' file, as in:

sv1codec "Fubar Transport.big" -td

SV1Codec will encode it as TITLE.DAT (overwriting an existing file if there's one, as usual -- you backed up the original TITLE.DAT, didn't you?), with the file checksum adjusted so that the file will be considered valid by TT.

To encode a 'big' file, you have to decode an existing savegame first. You can, however, transform an existing savegame into a 'big' file in one step, without decoding:

sv1codec -c -td trt42.sv1 title.dat

or

sv1codec -c -td trt42.sv1 ./

Note that you must use either the output file name ("title.dat") or the output directory ("./", which refers to the current directory) if you use this syntax.

It may be a bad idea to transform savegames that use TTDPatch extended vehicle array feature into TITLE.DAT unless you never run TTD without TTDPatch; if you run TTD on itself, it will crash when trying to load such an 'extended' TITLE.DAT.
