3DTT

Post by Guest »

Hi, everybody!

I just found this NG accidently and I am glad to see there is a hard
core of gamers who still keep playing this old but excellent game.
My age is 31, I am from Germany and I bought TTDX in 1995 and still
play it sometimes. This is one of the best games ever. Only
Civilization chained me to the monitor for more hours. I also liked
Railroad Tycoon and SimCity2000 until TT was released.
However, Chris Sawyer never made a sequel nor MPS continued the story.
There were some similar games after, like Industry giant and A4-
Networks, but this is the best of all. I watch out for Traffic Giant
now.
So last year I gathered a team and we decided to make a sequel. The
most important feature is that it will run in 3D. It will be no tile
based game, the 3D is consequently applied to the whole gameplay which
allows new dimensions of construction.
Because I found this NG so late, I can show already some results and
you can download a new version of the 3D engine every 10 weeks or so.

Visit the WAY-X homepage:
http://www.digitalprojects.com/way-x

There is an English and a German version. Because we are a German group
we maintain the German section more often and some pages are still in
German only. But I hope you will enjoy it.

Hi, everybody!
Hello! Are you going to become a 'regular fixture' on here? We like newbies!

But of course! That's why a lot of us here think it is the best game ever.
No other game has stood the test of time so well compared to TT.

There is also another company working on a sequel to the game. They have
been very secretive and refuse to give details, but they are working on it.
Transport World I think it's called. By the looks of things, they haven't
got very far

http://mdstudios.virtualave.net I think the companys URL was.

Oh well, Deja users never usually keep coming back again, and again. Still,
thanks for the info.

I know it already. They have got lots of
feedback since July and 3 independent fan
sites!
Oh, nearly I became jealous. But when I saw
their HP without almost any content and the
words "Need more ideas......" I knew that here
is nothing yet but also nothing in near future
if even ever.

Deja is not so comfortable as a newsreader and these
greedy people want much money if I would like to use my
newsreader on their server. But I have to show up anyway
because there is another NG, too, I can reach only by Deja:
alt.games.mdestiny. A Civ-like game with a real globe. In
development still but very impressive.
For some things in the internet I would have paid already
if it would not be impossible without international credit
card, hehehe.

Could you tell us how you found this NG? We are wondering where all these
newbies are coming from!

I found it accidently on this page:
http://www.tpa.freeuk.com/

I am scanning the Internet for railroad and traffic simulation very
often (probably I know projects you even never heard of) but I never
found this NG. It is not available on almost every
newsserver in Germany.

Why does the name of this NG lack the "oon" on the end?

Quoth dobro...@hkn.de in alt.games.microprose.transport-tyc:
Why does the name of this NG lack the "oon" on the end?

Because it would make it more than 14 characters, and there used to be a 14
character limit on newsgroup name components.

This looks really great!

I'm afraid my German is not so good, and AltaVista translation didn't explain
everything.

Which would be the file to download, to get a demo of the game or 3D engine?

From what I could make out, it is written in Delphi. I've been writing Delphi
for quite a while, so if you need someone to help with coding or testing let me
know.

AltaVista translation is very good if there is no better comedy in TV,
hehe.
Now that we have got so many English visitors I will try to complete
the English part of the website.

You did not find it????????
It is the first entry on the downloads-page!
OK, try it directly: http://www.digitalprojects.com/way-x/bin/tt3d50.zip

The language is secondary. We could have written the code in C as well
but I dislike its syntax. The most challenging things are language
independent.
I will release some of our programing problems soon, then everybody can
try to solve them if desired.

What is "A4-Networks?" Did I miss this game? Is it a rail or transport based
business sim?

It is a "rail based business sim". In fact, it was supposed to be the sequel
of A-Train, but it was so complicated and consequently hard to use that I
got it for *free* on a magazine CD-ROM, as nobody had bought it...

In my opinion, you didn't miss anything. (Seriously)
Continue playing TT, as if you did never heard about A4.

When A4 first came out in the UK it was £40 and I don't think many
people bought it, I bought it on budget at £20 and even then it was
overpriced. I have put a short review and screenshot on my web site at :
http://www.moorhouse0.demon.co.uk/osoft.htm
If anyone is sufficiently interested take a look.
IMHO the game wasn't even half as good as the original TT which came out
2 years before.
