Productive Industries

Post by Colin »

WHY is it that when industries are being most productive (better than 50%)
they CLOSE DOWN????!!!!
Surely a non productive industry should close and a productive one become more productive ?

If you are using an industry, then it shouldn't shut down. If it gets really low production (eg, 32 tonnes/month), it may shut down, but high production industries shouldn't shut down. They may decrease in produce, but they shouldn't shut down. :?

well owen i think ur wrong..TTO has a very bad inconvenience. One time i was using a coal mine at 300+tonnes a month , i was using it, and it shut down on me...shut downs are random and only occur when TTO decides to make an industrie when it already has max i think

The last time I had a "proper" game of TTO was in 1999, so my memory is a bit rusty about some of these things... ;)

Not only do they shut down in TTO but sometimes when you just build a
station near (for example) a farm, coal mine, iron ore mine or whatever
then that industry announces its closing id imminent and it does so at the
end of the month. You are left still building tracks and have to waste funds
deleting what you have built. I had a coal mine that was hugely productive with four trains serving it and hardly able to cope with all the coal but the moment it hit 50% produvtivity it closed! this happens VERY OFTEN in my 1994 version of TT.
