This set will need a lot of more work. Unluckily, real life has taken all of my time in the past few months... I sadly haven't drawn anything in the past 6 months. However, it looks like the situation has cleared out a little bit and I will be able to start drawing again! Hopefully, a narrow gauge-based teaser might be released some time this year.

Hello,

Good job, if you fail to train add to GRF, I can provide images of French trains, hoping that does not already realize, if I am to see the next impaciente the GRF, because as Mister Me I'm French so strongly the next version, I know a great GRF that contains the TGV, for those they want to send me a message.

Sincerely, Digital

Thanks for your interest :)

As of now, I'm working on the narrow gauge part of the set. I guess it's more than 50% complete as of now, and I'm actually thinking about starting a playtesting phase for the completed part.

So far, the set includes a dozen of steamers, two railcars, two electric locomotives, and an EMU I'm working on as I'm writing this. The rolling stock includes passenger coaches and freight wagons that are fully compatible with both ECS and FIRS. Everything is drawn and coded with realism in mind, recreating a few major French narrow gauge networks. It comes with its own rail types, including unelectrified, catenary- and third rail-powered narrow gauge tracks. The catenary has its own pylons, modeled after those mounted by the La Mure mountain network. The tracks are compatible with the Total Bridge Renewal Set, and also include specific railroad crossings and depots.

Here are a couple of screenshots that (hopefully!) might raise your interest...

This scenario is taking place in the French Alps. A passenger train pulled by a Secheron locomotive, in its original green livery, is reaching this mountain town, where a mixed train pulled by an earlier Thury engine is waiting to climb down.

Despite of the city name, we're in Corsica now :p where a coal train pulled by a small 031T is reaching the station that feeds a glass factory. Meanwhile, a goods train composed by bogie-mounted flatcars and pulled by a more modern and powerful Mallet locomotive has just loaded its cargo and is leaving the station.

We're in the North-Western region of Brittany here, where a fast passenger train pulled by a 120T of the Réseau Breton is leaving the station. On a small branchline, we see a small mixed tramway-like pulled by a small engine like this one. Such small trains were popular everywhere in the country to link small villages together and to serve as branchlines off major railroad networks.

If anyone wants to apply for the playtesting phase, feel free to send me a PM ;) some feedback would greatly help me!

Looking very good indeed!

Is that narrow gauge track 'classic' narrow gauge replacing monorail or are you using the rail-types feature?

Thanks ;)

I'm using the railtypes feature for OTTD. I'm thinking of coding the NG trains as monorail engines in TTDPatch, so that they can at least run on Cornelius' NG tracks (albeit without catenary or third rail)...

By the way, I've also drawn and coded rackrail tracks, but I won't include any engines of that type just yet. I will when (if ever...) new acceleration systems are implemented in OTTD.

You're welcome ;)

The passenger stations are from Michael Blunck's NewStations 0.42, while the freight stations are from the "Industrial Station Renewal" v0.8.0.

Is the project dead? Do you have some alpha release to test it or is it still in an early stage?
And do you have a website?
The graphics looks really good. It would look sooo great in game.

Snail is currently working on the NG part of the set, and I'm pretty sure most of the development happens 'behind the scenes', as Snail said, he will perhaps be starting an Alpha test at some point soon, so buckle in and wait for it :)

Yes, but he may attrack more contributers (artists and coders) when releasing or even giving access of what have been done so far.
And then, it could be a bit faster.

It's not bad... It's better taking time to do stuff well than doing something in a hurry.
I was just asking how far have you gone with the set and since there were not answer for 6 months, if you continued it.

Unless unexpected events take place, a playtesting phase with about 2/3 of the metric-gauge part of the set will start by next week. Since the GRF is unfinished and needs a lot of testing, it will not be publicly downloadable, but anyone can apply to be a playtester and they'll get the GRF. I'll post a new thread when the process starts.

@felixzero

The problem with making sets publicly available for testing is that they´ll remain available on the net forever.
