How do you create a BIG City?

Well, I have not found any saved game yet for TT Deluxe, but I have watched several from TT. Some games with some citities that have reached 30.000-55.000 people.
I have not tried it myself in TT but in TT Deluxe I have tried but still I have only reached 7.000 people, Well, I am going to give it more time but it seems to grow to slowly to reach 50.000 before 2050.
I am paying everything I got to fund new buildings, I have every city square covered by stations......
Is it tougher to get a Big City in TT Deluxe or am I missing some important stuff or schould I give it more time, please help, I want a Big City!

You can't build huge cities in TTD like you can in TTO. You can build fairly large ones, but it's really hard to get into the tens of thousands - I've never done that myself.
