Nasty. Looks like the lorry got stuck at a red light with its trailer still on the tracks. No wonder someone was campaigning on how unsafe it was.

It sounds just like Playing TT though doesn't it :)

wonder how much the documentory maker paid the truck driver to stop there?
seems suspiciously coincidental that they caught it from 2 different camera angles....

yea, that is kinda odd, but it seems every one has video cams with them now!
he did it on purpose, the truck stalled, out of fuel, got caught on the bump of the track, heck theres many possibilities

It is rather coincidental, and you'd think that the rig driver would have known the dimensions of his lorry and noticed...

If I remember rightly though, at a lot of gates in the States they don't barrier both sides of the carriage way, only the side that faces into the traffic...

Where as here in the UK he would have had a gate come down on his roof, I guess in this example nothing similar happened.

On the news tonight, they interviewed the guy who had been filming the crossing. He had been in an accident there about a month before (non train related), and had been filming the intersection daily to show how dangerous it was. Guess he was right.

It made News 24 earlier as well. Seems to have gotten around a bit.

I seen that on the news. It claimed a 62 year old woman was driving the truck. Maybe that has something to do with the accident*?

*No offence to woman drivers, or senior drivers, or even senior-woman drivers.

They're designed that way.

Image if they were metal.
Then imagine somebody ran their vehicle into it so that it pointed into the the oncoming locomotive (specifically the front windows or angled just right to go into the side window which is usually open)
Image the scene in Twister where the radio tower impaled the guy

Not a pretty picture.

They're there as a visual block only and to give if forced.
