IRC meeting Saturday 050205 @ 1900 UTC on #tempire, Quakenet

Post by Hyronymus »

This is the first special meeting. The sole subject of this meeting is finalizing the Functional Requirements Document. As you might have seen the developers of Transport Empire have started a few discussions about competing ideas in the FRD in the Transport Empire Development section. During this meeting we want to make clear-cut decisions. This will open the road for creating the final Design Document.

Eaven throught the main topic will be FRD. I think we need some structure of the meeting.

I was thinking of Opening -> FRD finishing -> end. All FRD related discussions here on the forums will be on the agenda of course. Can't see yet which that will be, big chance more topics will appear.

You should go through the dev section, grab all the topics that are close to being decided, and make a meeting list. Obviously you'll need to add more next week and avoid ones which have no end in sight. At least then people know what's coming and can prepare great speeches! And stuff.

All FRD discussions have an end in sight, next week really is the closure of the FRD era. If we postpone things next week we could as well not hold a meeting.

Just make sure that the meeting is ordered. Preferably the same order as the FRD has ;).

There is A LOT of material there, we may not be able to get through everything. So we may as well start with the things we have already discussed. And then work from there. If necessary we could finish the job off a week later.

There's no point in rushing it, it'll get the job done faster but it won't be as good overall.

Ordering it by FRD order isn't a bad idea at all, consider it done ;). About possibly not being able to discuss everything: already a few topics reached a kind of verdict. Perhaps Hellfire or ChrisCF can summarize what we decided and lock thise discussions?

Hmm... Yes. Hellfire or ChrisCF could indeed do that. ;)

Sorry... The central heating is broken at the office. It's freezing outside, but inside, it's hotter than the sahara. Well... Almost. :P

I have some realy anoying problems with my ADSL connection, that the ISP don't know how to solve. :( My modem dissconeects a few times every eavning. And it takes 5 minutes to get it up and run agin. So if I cant get it up and run smoth I suggest that someone else take the role as minutes maker.

OK, it's noted. Anyone volunteers to take over in case Zuu doesn't make it (to the meeting)?

Less good news. There where no easy solution on my problems. However I will be at the meeting. But I fear that I will be disconnected say 3-4 times during the meeting. And it will take say 5 minutes for me to get back.

I have a major mathematics test at monday morning, so I will not begin with the minutes until monday afternoon. If someone can take it over this meeting I will be pleased. But it is not impossibe for me to do it, but it will take some time.

What will the minutes be like? Just a list of discussion topics with the conclusion, or do we have to include the options and views of every member of the meeting ?

I think it should do to simply state what we agreed upon. Does anyone object to that.

Hopefully that will be all.
But otherwise also continue the discussion of any topics we didn't finish.

Maybe we could start a topic now with a list of all FRDF dicussions and wheter the discussion is still going or our conclusion. This will make running the meeting a lot easier.

Hellfire already locked two topics that were finished. Regard the other topics as discussion point for now, I'll try to put up an agenda at least 2 hours before the meeting.

Are there any reason for the gap between "[FRDF] Computer players" and "[FRDF] Pollution", and the other gap?

Yes, the gap is because I couldn't find a FRD description to it. The other things are (more or less) FRD descriptions/topics. But there is no absolutely no order of importance. I just stuck to the FRD order.
