OpenTTD doesn't launch on mandrake linux

Post by Kumagoro »

I start the game, but only to see the cursor boing, i copied all the needed files to the linux dir, but still it doesn't work. this happens to most non-Qt apps, maybe i need some more libs?

My specs:
Mandrake linux 10.0 official
AMD athlon XP 1.7
256mb RAM
geForce 2MX 400 (mandrake drivers)

any (console) output at all? does it just quit without doing anything, or keeps it running without showing anything?

when i type "openttd" in console, it just goes to another line, no error information or anything. Maybe there is some log file?

EDIT: Just checked the process table, the game works, but i cant see it :(

you need sdl, libpng and zlib
if you compile yourself, you will be told if you miss anything. I don't know what will happen if you start the binary without the needed libs. I got can't find ....dylib on mac if I try that

YAAY! Thanks a lot! But music only appears few seconds after CLOSING the game :( i do everything exactly like you said :( I launch the game like this

Code: Select all

./openttd -m extmidi
I have the midi progs, even the one (i don't remember the name) that works as a wav converter

However if i run it like this

Code: Select all

./openttd -m extmidi -s null
I have music but no sound
