Gigantic Station Scenario

Post by punar »

Here's a scenario designed in the purpose of creating a gigantic station in the center of the map. It's mostly flat to ease construction.
I got the idea for this scenario from Overlord1191's thread The Ultimate RO-RO Challenge.
However I don't expect one line in and one line out. Just create a station next to the factory in the center in any way you want. With an effective station and track construction, I expect it to be possible to complete the scenario in about 30 gameyears.

The following cargo pickup/delivery locations are included:
4 Iron Ore Mines
4 Coal Mines
2 Steel Mills
8 Chemical Plants
1 Factory (for the big station)
4 Cities

Image

Industries are set to not shut down or start new. No mods required to run the scenario.

Winning condition is to transport 1 million crates of goods and only one station for the center factory. See how fast you can get this done. I'll post my score here later.

couse before 1915 no city will accept goods
I haven't had time get so far yet so I didn't know that.

My expectations of 30 years is based on all producing industries producing ~300 tonnes of cargo a month. With 16 producing industries that would make 300*16*12= 57600 tonnes of cargo a year. That's 1 million tonnes in 17.5 years. Since industries can't close down in the scenario, and most industries increase production if they are well serviced, I'm guessing the expert players could complete in 30 years.
But if cities don't accept goods until 1915, it may take a bit longer
And with only one center station, it need to be extremely effective.

With your four stations, can't you just delete three of them and then rebuild them as one, and then reroute your trains  ? Good attempt though and good luck!

This doesn't look very hard, I'm gonna try it and let you know how fast I complete it.

Sorry, you're using two station at the factory that's forbidden :(
Re:Spyker
Seaside bay accepts goods already in 1903.
I'm using no mods, otherwise it is to easy.
It's 1907 and i have only 1%
Started with chemicals, but tankers contain only 10 tons, so i have to switch to a steel empire.
The max for a factory is 7905 tons output.see my topic
http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?t=12248
So the most difficulty will ocure a fast transportation of goods to town.

Nice layout, but i it will give very long loadingtimes.
btw. You use mods who are not in the scenario,That's cheating.

I didn't know that. Good thing that limit is high enough for the factory to process up to 494 tons of cargo from each of the producing industries (coal, iron and chemicals).

Some really good station designs here. It's fun to see the different stations people make. Good work everyone!

re:spyker
No i didn't mean the bridges, but the electrification and the croccodile.
I loaded the scenario in the scenario editor but i didn't see them.
The first big loco is the Pacific in 1935.
But it is a nice scenario to play, and when i finished it, i will play it with the nl-trainset and that must be availeble from 1900.
On the moment i am in 1921 at 15%
I've to put all coal and iron to one steelmill instead of two.
One mill got to much ore, the other to much coal.

Oh,and this is Seaside Bay.
Population almost 16000.
Cargo was accepted in1903.
I just made 2 smal tramlines, and planted some trees.
See how i walk into the town with the platforms,to max catchment area. :D

re:Spyker
Just go ahead with what your doing.
When this one is finished i start the scenario again with the nl-trainset starting in 1900.
thus elok 1600 to start with and largest cargo wagons.
The original i play now is a little bit boring because the american trainset.
In 1923 i was ready with building tracks.
then accellerated time till 1935,changing all loks to Pacific.
then accellerated time till 1960.
That is where i am know, on 75% of challenge.
The pacific will be replaced by the century and all cargowagens to the big ones.
I think it will be done within 10 years.
For the new challenge i propose that everyting is permitted including new mods.
Unlimited stations at the factory.
But only ONE factory.

i'm going to make a scenario soon i think WITH!!!!! chemicals to and one factory :)
just for fun..
well i found this one a nice scenario but you don't so much trains and thats a bit boring...
but ill see you guys soon :p
