Hang in newstations (a38)

Post by DaleStan »

The newstations GUI appears to get stuck in an infinite loop when trying to lower the orientation drop-down with any station type after a disabled station type selected. You can switch to them, just not from them. In the case of the cfgs below, the (Primary) Industrial and Suburban station types are the guilty ones.

Cfgs and ttdpttxt.* follow. One of SilverLine or Industrial Stations may be disabled, but if both are, the bug can no longer be tickled, because Amtrak stations are then the last on the list. I was also unable to tickle the bug in 1998, which is (I assume) because Amtrak stations have been introduced.

I'm pretty sure I have the updated a38 (read "I redownloaded it before posting this message"), but I threw in the md5 sums of the version I have (latestw.zip, mkpttxt.exe and ttdpatchw.exe) just in case.

EDIT: Patchman's right. "Hang", not "crash"

To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Yes, I did. (See the ttdpttxt.txt in the RAR.)
One of things that makes me suspicious I do not actually have the most recent version is that simply deleting ttdpttxt.* and running mkpttxt.exe again (what I tried the first time) did NOT produce the correct lines. If someone could verify those MD5 sums against their TTDPatch install, I'd be grateful.

The MD5 sums are correct. The lines this mkpttxt makes are correct even though they look a little different from the ones I posted, because they contain a \xFF and a \xC7 character that wouldn't show up properly in the post. However, if that was what was wrong you'd get a crash, not a hang.

Anyway, I'll look at this when I get home.

Confirmed and fixed, I had a wrong-sized variable access there...
