You have to put the data files into "/usr/share/games/openttd/data". There should be a menu entry for OpenTTD in "More applications -> Games -> Strategy" to start the game and you should also be able to start it from the console by runnning "openttd".

Just out of curioisty, does anyone find the "More Applications" menu in Mdk 10 really annoying compared to everything in the main menu, in 9.2?

No, it's not really bothering me. "Editors" is the only menu entry from "More Applications" that I access frequently. And KDevelop is of course in the taskbar. :)
