Hello forum go-ers.
Today I am looking for high capacity trucks for all eras.
I did have them for the original trucks (1970s truck had 100 good capacity).
But it would seem I forgot the topic title.
Any help is most appreaciated.

LocoWiki wrote:To decode your DAT files into an editable format, copy them from ObjData to your LocoTools folder and then simply drag the file onto the LocoTools executable. It will then create an .XML file in that directory and create a new folder for the images. The XML file contains all the variables for that object, such as cost and name, whilst all the graphics used by that object are stored as individual .PNG files in the seperate folder.
The xml file isn't opened directly after using the locotool. It generates two pieces of data, the xml file and the pictures folder. All you need to worry about is the xml file as you are only editing cargo capacities. Just right click the xml file, then open with notepad and use the Wiki to help you edit it. All the info is there, you just need to look.
There is a (very) slight possibility that the vehicles you are trying to modify are protected, preventing you from altering values within the Locotool editor. Plastikman has done this with the gantry mods in his USA packs for example.
Try some vehicle .dat files from other modders and see if you have more luck with them perhaps?
Australian "road train" trucks are available for download at http://www.walter1940.de and they may have a higher cargo capacity? But i cant say for sure as i have never used them.
You can't copy and paste the dat into the executable, you need to drag it. Here is probably the easiest way.
Go to your desktop.
Create two folders.
Name one Locotool and the other Object
Once you've downloaded the Locotool unzip all the files into the folder "Locotool". If you are just dragging the .dat file into the zipped locotool, it won't work.
Copy the Dat that you want to edit (start with the default goods truck for now) into your second folder named "Object".
Now open up both folders into separate windows, and drag the .dat file into the locotool executable.
There should now be a .xml file and a folder with the sprites, within your "Object" file.

Thank you Opan for further instruction. But now for some reason its opening in Internet Explorer.
This is ok if the Internet Explorer opens. You can then change the file with Notepad.
A long time ago I wrote a tutorial on how to change an xml. Everything is explained there. http://www.walter1940.de/tutorial/xml-modding/english/
