ATTN: Website host / Wiki host

Post by ledow »

For the attention of whoever is responsible for the hosting of the website, two things, one minor, one major:

1) On the website it says "OpenTTD requires the original Windows version of Transport Tycoon Deluxe data files in order to function. Please refer to the readme for more information." In fact, OpenTTD can now use the original DOS version as well.

2) The wiki appears to be running on an ancient version of MediaWiki. Since it's release, there have been patches for all sorts of HTML/Javascript/abritary code insertion exploits that could be used to do all sorts of nasty stuff, some of them with the permissions of the webhost (i.e. delete or corrupt all wiki info, I'm assuming). Is it possible to upgrade before we lose anything vital?

Now that you mention it, this problem applies to the installer as well.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Thanks, I updated the Website. Mihamax is planning to upgrade MediaWiki, but didn't find the time yet.

Is this:
A database query syntax error has occurred. This could be because of an illegal search query (see Searching OpenTTD), or it may indicate a bug in the software. The last attempted database query was:

Code: Select all

INSERT INTO user (user_name,user_password,user_newpassword,user_email, user_real_name, user_rights, user_options) VALUES ('DaleStan', '', '', '', '', '', 'quickbar=1 underline=1 hover=1 cols=80 rows=25 searchlimit=20 contextlines=5 contextchars=50 skin=monobook math=1 rcdays=7 rclimit=50 highlightbroken=1 stubthreshold=0 previewontop=1 editsection=1 editsectiononrightclick=0 showtoc=1 showtoolbar=1 date=0 searchNs-1=0 searchNs0=1 searchNs1=0 searchNs2=0 searchNs3=0 searchNs4=0 searchNs5=0 searchNs6=0 searchNs7=0 searchNs8=0 searchNs9=1 searchNs10=0 searchNs11=1')
from within function "User::addToDatabase". MySQL returned error "1054: Unknown column 'user_rights' in 'field list'".
Retrieved from "http://wiki.openttd.org/index.php/Special:Userlogin"
an artifact of the not-yet-complete upgrade? or is it a wiki bug?
That's what happens when I attempt to create an account.

Most likely an artifact. MySQL columns don't go disappearing of their own accord (or you'd have a corrupt table bug, rather than that bug). :)
