That didn't look good at all, and i'm afraid textures won't save you. What they are chopping is fir, not palms. They have branches sticking out all the way up the log itself, and those are not chopped round before the sawmill, and that's what you are transporting to now. You'd have to make semi-chopped branches sticking out everywhere, just the stumps of them. Like...
I've seen an automated logger at work... it strips the branches of a 50ft tree in under 20secs, and what comes out is bark-less and reasonably smooth.
