Well it should work but I don't have one so I can't test and I can't build... You'll have to either patch and build yourself OR ask someone to build it for you ....

Just tried to compile it and it works fine on Mac OS X. Unfortunatly because of this I can't build a static binary.

Well, first of all you'd need the BSD subsystem[0] and the Apple developer tools installed... With that in place you can compile SDL (or maybe get it using fink). After that you would have to download the source of openttd and apply the patch. Then it's just a matter of ./configure, make and make install ;-)

Unfortunately it's a bit complex and time consuming to give you a step-by-step list... But just trying might provide a good learning experience ;-)

[0] Not entirely sure about this one, but would I guess it's needed.

Works for me using WinRAR 3.50.

Back with update and bugfix

Post by boekabart »

After many months of being gone, I'm back. I've updated my patch to the latest SVN, and fixed that window resize bug that has been there since forever. Now as far as I can tell it's bug free.
Therefore I call this v0.7 . No win32 exe for now, no webspace available at the moment.
Next thing up my sleeve is loading PNG replacements for sprites. First I have to figure out how the SpriteID numbering works.

Ah by the way, the season colors are hardcoded in here, so if you want southern hemisphere colors, just change the code a bit.

Tried to run the Windows binaries but they say "Invalid version of language packs" (tried with the latest nightly [3479] too).
Am I doing something wrong?

That's because boekabart changed english.txt, but didn't bother to distribute the lang-files.

EDIT: unedit.

Well didn't bother.. It's more that it has been a while since i've distributed this patch and i guess I forgot how I used to do it. Will set this straight in about 2-3 hours.

There's another problem too: The patch you uploaded won't apply to romanian.txt, french.txt, italian.txt, or german.txt, even to r3484.

I can make the other three languages, though:

So, gentlemen, finally, how stable is the current release? Are there any special hints for drawing 32bpp game sprites for it? I work out russian town replacement and hate making excessive job. Should I work with this patch, or it is only "first alpha"?

This patch is stable, but doesn't load 32bpp sprites, just renders in 32bpp mode to be able to do some effects. Read the stuff posted in this forum on New Graphics to figure out how to make gfx. Basically, use png's with alpha. For team colors, a separate 2-bit 'png' is used. I won't go in to details here.
