Is this due to the work-in-progress status of the half-platforms, or am I doing something wrong? Just to be sure.
Mizari,
See the attached screenshot... it shows the platforms you should be able to build.
Meanwhile, make sure you have updated to v3.3 of the stations GRF!

Looks nice but the buffers can only be used from tracks from the north, not from the south. Also any chance there will be single sided platforms with station signs and such? If I'm right Toni draw quite a bit more, but I assume you just didn't have time to code them yet?

Aren't these auto detecting tracks so they get right direction?

There are a few more buildings to code... yes... I'll get to these at some point.

And yes, as per ISA's comment above, the buffers auto-select their direction.

Ah, it worked now with the new release.

The modern roofed platform appears to be slightly misaligned. It is slightly off from the alignment of the overbridge and the empty platform.

Bugger, you are indeed correct.
I'll fix this shortly.

I have a question regarding the actual availability of the trains ingame.

I have a bunch of trainsets, including Japanese Set:3. When I tried to auto-replace one of the trains, from another set, to a new model from this set displayed on the list of available trains, the task won't end and the train will run as it normally would without being replaced, despite having entered depots several times.

I thought it could be a compatibility problem between sets, so I decided to manually replace it, but when I try to find the train I want, it won't be listed on the "new rail vehicles" list.

Here's a picture that describes this problem better. http://i.imgur.com/Tl4nVOs.png

To the left, the trains for replacing, with an EF81 available; to the right, the actual available trains for purchasing. As you can see, none of the EF series is showing up on the latter, so I can't buy the EF81.

Am I doing something wrong?, or is this a NewGRF problem?

Thanks in advance.

most likely it uses an incompatible railtype, so it won't show up in the depot.

Thanks for the response.

It seems that the Japan train set is not fully compatible with NuTracks (which I'm using), as the depots will only let me buy narrow gauge trains. However, the train I want to buy is, indeed, narrow gauge, but it never shows up unless I use monorail, Universal Rail Type or the proper japanese tracks set.

A bit confusing, and unless I'm missing something else, it would be great there was full compatibility between NuTracks and japan trains. :)

that is probably intended, as the narrow gauge is the "standard", while the shinkansen is the "new" system.

that is probably a bug in the set (either wrong railtype, or wrong description)

I guess I can +1 to the crowd wondering why there isn't a Japan road vehicle set yet. It wouldn't exactly be the hardest thing to make, I'm fairly sure, but I suppose trucks and buses don't have the same nerd appeal as trains.

Does Japan have any notable history of trams, while we're at it?

There are the Hiroshima trams by Stevenh. Google for them.

I cannot speak for other transport tycoons, yet I would say japanese buses and trucks would be welcome, as long as they are useful.
Appeal is needed for an eye-candy; what makes people buy buses, trucks or trams is their usefulness.

Wow, I didn't realize you guys had restarted development on the JapanSet. Guess my forum notifications went astray. Great work on the stations!

My old website seems to be grossly out-of-date. But it's still referenced by Bananas. If someone up-to-date on the current progress wants to tell me what needs to be updated, I'll get it done.

I'll have to download your newer versions and give them a run!

Hmm. I can't get the Total Bridge Renewal Set 1.12 with Japan mod to work in OTTD, is that something that needs to be updated again?

That's been completely out of my scope. Who authored it in the first place and did dandan or anyone modify it to work with our set?

OpenTTD has become stricter in rejecting GRFs that were not written according to the specs. for details we need to know what kind of error you get. (i don't have this file)

I downloaded it inside OTTD using Bananas.

The error message is that it only works when the Japan Train set is using variable 0. But I can't figure out how to enter GRF variables using OTTD. What is that variable, anyway?

The TBRS for Japan Set was made for Japan Set 2, it no longer works with Japan Set 3.
