Sorry for the late answer, I was on holidays.

Simutrans uses 24 bit truecolor input images. There is no colormap. There are a few special colors to trigger special effects, though:

64x64 pixel images are accepted, but your work will be lost once the 128x128 pixel set replaces the 64x64 pixel set.
Currently both sets exist in parallel.

We're missing a diesel engine, that is introduced in the late 1930s or early/mid 1940s

A steam engine that fits in there, will do, too, but I assume players would like to switch to modern technologies at that time.

There are only two steam engines available in Simutrans at start of the game:

A small one: 50 km/h, about 240KW, 20t, 3.2 Cr/km
A bigger one: 120 km/h, about 1100KM, 90t, 4.3 Cr/km

I assume players would like engines in the speed range 80-100km as well as above 120km/h as an addition.

I don't know if the speed range above 120 km/h is reasonable for an engine introduced in 1930..1940

In my games, I'd rather need an engine with roughly 80km/h top speed, good power and medium running costs.

Average engines in the 30's and 40's were like 140 km/h
So, what about a 140km'h steamer with 2000hp?
Anyway, i attached a steamer that was made specially for simutrans
So what about a streamlined express passenger steamer?

Thank you for the images. What do you suggest as introduction date? We're currently moving towards a timeline, latest Simutrans version support introduction dates for vehicles.

A steam engine with 140km/h and 2000hp (~1450KW?) will be a nice addition :)

Edit: I didn't get an answer on the introduction date question. So I chose 1918. I have no idea how good or bad that choice is. It just means that at the official start opf the game in 1930 the "TPI Std 2-6-4T" will be available.

Sorry for the long delay. I think we now have all parts requried to implement the garbage transport chain. Thanks for painting the garbage trucks. They are incredibly well done!

That's a hard choice. I'm no railway expert, so I can't make a sensible choice.
If I say "how about the red one" I just show my incompetence :(

You don't need to, they're just about the same, just choose your favourite colour
