Post by Level Crossing »

Alexi was probably impaired, since some kind of drug is legal in Britannia (opium, maybe?)

Reposting list of rules, since it is on a convenient page.

LIST OF RULES
  1. STARTUP AND GENERAL RULES
    1. One country per person
    2. Size: Countries must initially not be larger than the US. Size must be kept reasonable and may be vetoed (see Rule 3.1).
    3. Slight terraforming is permitted, but no moving of large landmasses like continents
    4. No large infrastructure or advanced technology may be built/used if a similar structure/technology did not exist in the given time period. For example, you may not build an electric railroad in the early 1800s.
  2. WARS AND SECESSIONS
    1. Wars are to be fought with reasonable forces. Some aspects may be vetoed (see Rule 3.1) if necessary.
    2. Nukes may not be overused and must have a blast radius of less than 0.5 miles. Abuse of this rule can be vetoed (see Rule 3.1).
    3. Seceding is permitted, only if the "leader/owner" of a country decides it. The new territory must merge with another country.
  3. ADMINISTRATIVE RULES
    1. Veto Power: If a player disagrees with another's action, it may veto the action. At least two players are needed for the veto to succeed and the action to be taken back. Moderator's word is supreme to all other players, EXCEPT when the moderator is alone in his/her position. If this is the case, the moderator will be overridden (to prevent abuse).
    2. Rule Changing: After these initial rules are agreed upon, a 5:1 majority is required to change a rule. A game moderator counts as two votes.
    3. Restarting: A 4:1 consensus is required to restart. Game mods count as two votes.
PS If copying rules into another post, please quote it (and then remove the quote tag if necessary) so that the correct formatting remains.

No asteroids that size and larger do exist and one might be knocked out of it's normal orbit and could hit the Earth.

FRSA officials have this to say on this meteor matter :

We do not know if there is at the present time any kind of danger for the earth. However, we do have an amazing spacecraft, capable of reaching Mars orbit in under 4 weeks, currently ready for departure. The sceduled flight to Mars will be redirected in order to determine if any threat for our planet exists. we expect to reach Jupiter's orbit in approximatey 8 months. With the crew rotating in and out of cryostasis, that flight shouldn't be too much of a problem. The spacecraft will be equipped with additional radar, optical telescopes and magnetic anomaly detectors. If there is an asteroid on colision course with the earth, we will find it.
And if we don't find it... we will have set a new record of bringing astronauts further away from earth than ever before !

And we also do not believe there is a necessity for that supposed britannian invention of a plasma drive, the existence of which we severely doubt. The world combined has many superb propulsion technologies with the space caterpilar drive, the solar array powered drive and our own nuclear pulse drive (sorry if I forgot someone !) and if we put all our efforts together, we should be able to get rid of any threat.

Oh and btw... a meteor the size of Ireland is way too big... anything larger than 800 km in diameter is forced into a sphere by gravity. And something that size is either a moon or a dwarf planet and therefore on a stable orbit either around a gas giant or the sun itself !

So at least, veto on the size of the thing !

I was a bit too fast there... Ireland is not 800 km long, so... could be possible... sorry

Veto on the asteroid. I think I know the reason. Some Geoduckian kid's party balloon got jumbo-sized by a chemical from a factory and floated in to space.

super spaceship is ok, as we are technicaly in 2152 right now
May the force be with you.

@ Pottanda: We are looking to purchase the shunters to put them into service, not for historical purposes. Perhaps with that in mind you could allow us to take 75% of the shunters while you take the remaining 25% for historical rail lines.

In other news, people are beginning to migrate south again as the threat of the SPU is almost vanished though extremists will always exist. Checkpoints and curfews are still in place in the southern most areas of Opaneia. We hope that soon we will eliminate the threat altogether and that the city streets will become peaceful again. The gold mine and rail line in northern Papua New Guinea are well into construction now, and the production of gold will likely begin to circulate the market within 5 to 8 years.

/OT/ APDAF: we aren't restarting the game likely anytime soon, so quit trying to find some way to "destroy the world".

2152? Wow. It's time for more technology... The people are disappointed we don't have warp drive yet, so let's get a move on

Updates in Space:
BREAKING NEWS!!!
UNITED EARTH SPACE PROBE AGENCY (UESPA) FOUNDED!!!!

This is a space agency that all other nations are welcome to join and develop spaceflight and exploration!
The new space telescope in the Earth-Moon L2 point is now operational.

There is now a large spaceport in the Earth-Moon L1 point. Its main hangar currently houses the experimental nuclear-pulse powered spacecraft (proposed name: UES Pioneer), and the station also contains a large ring array to simulate gravity for the space hotel on board. A fleet of upgraded CosmoShuttles take passengers and cargo between the Moonbase and various space stations, including the low-orbit "OrbitHub" station, the L1 "LunarHub" station and the L2 "Discovery" station with the telescope.

A special solar satellite has been built directly in the orbit of the Sun, which is intended to power large electrostatic ion-drive spacecraft such as the unmanned high speed probes that are being planned to be sent to the moons of Jupiter and other outer planets and dwarf planets.

Proposed project: A maglev-powered launch track on the Moon to make takeoffs of spaceships from the Moon more efficient and faster. Currently large amounts of fuel have to be transported to the Moon regularly.

Proposed Project: A Space Elevator (for this we need to tow an asteroid, for which we need a better stardrive, for which we need fusion power)

A breakdown on the current space propulsion methods:
Electrostatic Ion Drive: Requires a lot of energy, needs to use solar satellite array and is only good at accelerating in straight lines. Good speed.
Nuclear Pulse Drive: Uses nuclear explosions to propel the ship forward. Potentially very fast, but dangerous and fuel-consuming.
Chemical Booster: Standard rocket-like propulsion, used on CosmoShuttles, Makuse-MX and other standard local spacecraft.

Oh, and that "asteroid" must actually be our L1 space station, LunarHub. It is constantly growing, as it regularly receives a shipment of construction modules aboard a MX-5000.

MAP UNLOCKED:

@Bucketania, CSA, Geoduckia and New Britannia: We are willing to fund and build two new intercontinental high speed rail corridors. Together they would connect Asia and Europe with Africa without having to go through Britannia. The railways would have a top speed of 400 km/h and would have high speed container-freights and passenger trains running along them. All of the infrastructure costs will be paid for by the USAf, and it will provide clean, fast and efficient transport that will boost all of our economies greatly.
Corridor 1: London to Sahara - this corridor involves a tunnel under the Gibraltar Strait. Most of the line is through the CSA.
Corridor 2: East Africa to Asia - this corridor connects Africa (and by extension Europe) with Geoduckia and Fordtopia. An extension connecting Pottsania to CSA is also proposed. This includes three tunnels under the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf; again all expenses will be paid for by the USAf.

Also, shown extensions on Moon Base.

COMING SOON: Revamped Space section on the map, including orbits and other planets.

@A321Pilot: Veto - we have no way of powering warp engines yet. Fusion power will come soon™, I promise. Such a project requires the cooperation of many nations, in the form of the UESPA.

MAP UPDATE:
This adds space to show your space stations and orbital facilities. What does everyone think?

My veto too.

WRT asteroid: A cleaning lady has finally managed to reach Alexi's laboratory and clean it good. She also looked into the telescope and has seen the "asteroid". Moments later, she looked into the big lens and properly cleaned it with Mr. Muscle - no more "asteroid".

Ops, already? I was thinking we're in cca 2050... OK, time to adjust Rohan accordingly...

@Opaneia and Pottsania - 116 shunters total, 75 go to Opaneia, 41 go to Pottsania. Is this OK?

BREAKING NEWS

After being behind in space technology for years, Rohan has finally managed to build and launch a spacecraft on it own - the RSS Voyager. It gets launched by a Thor VII rocket and then uses it's own propulsion. It is equipped with two atmospheric engines so it can land as a normal airplane. It can carry 3 crewmembers and 20 passengers or 25 tons of equipment. We'll produce a fleet of 16 of them total.

Other Rohan news:
That "solar" cargo ship has proven to be worthy the effort. We're building 100 more for our merchant marine that will replace our aged fleet.
In case someone is interested in our old ships, they're for sale. Also, the new "solar" ship can be ordered but the waiting period is about 4 years.

@voyager 1 I agree on that number.

@Jacko Don't forget we share a moon base. I speccially put yellow and green stripes. You can see them if you zoom in

@APDAF. There is NO asteroid. Our Pottsania only secret telescope on the dark side of the moon has comfired this.

@everyone else, Do you want to boot APDAF? No threat by the way, APDAF.

I can prove that the asteroid exists if someone gives the funding.
