Ooh, that's a fun one. Because I added a column to the tracking table for vehicles which have a different speed on secondary power, the lookup for tender lengths got shifted over in a way which didn't immediately cause a compilation failure.

Updated version should be online in the next 30 minutes or so.

EDIT: should now be available. Only the main set needs updating, the addon set table didn't get changed.

And yes, Class 777 is the first battery vehicle! Also the first with a lower top speed on alternative power, hence the above...

For the first time, I tried the longest train - Class 373 Old Eurostar. Fantastic, but not so high acceleration, without the ability to reach full speed in Eurotunnel.
Well, I think it is intended to have such "lower" tractive effort to simulate reality. In that case, that's fine, and that's what I want. :D
Class 374 when? :P

I think in this case the air resistance could be reduced rather than the power/TE increased.

Also, the top speed of the Eurotunnel IRL is only 160km/h

Hi, new here - absolutely love your trainset! I was wondering (and sorry if this has already been suggested) if there was the possibility of adding the different lengths of certain classes of multiple units? Really missing the 12-car class 700s and the 11-car class 390s.

Perhaps this could be via a refit option?

It's an interesting one - when I first created the set it was before variants existed so a lot of the units with different length options were a case of "pick one and go with that" to avoid cluttering the purchase menu or having that situation where you use refits to change the length, which always felt a bit clunky and hard to discover. Maybe one to revisit at some point in the future? (No promises!)

well.. thank you regardless! I mean personally I wouldn't mind a cluttered menu or a clunky refit option, and I reckon a lot of others would't mind either.... alternatively it could be a setting to have an extended selection of trains? I think you can tell that I'm rather desperate for this option :)

Hi Timberwolf, I was wondering if you are working on any new steam locos in your UK Trains Set, I ask because I'm not up to date with the whole 20 pages of conversations. I would also like to suggest the idea of the GWR Saint Class as they were used for TPO trains. Thanks!

I feel as if I may be missing something obvious;

I'm having trouble taking advantage of the higher speed locomotives coming out in the 1920s and 1930s because there's no upgrade to the Brake Carriage that allows a speed over 85mph. Is this an intentional choice to encourage players to diversify into dedicated mail trains? I'm playing with ViV so delivering mail is a must and I'm torn between biting the bullet and purchasing a few Halls to supplement the fleet of Kings and Castles I've currently got in service to take over Mail duties on a 4-track system, or slowing all services to 85mph to carry mail. I'm playing with relatively challenging settings so minimizing infrastructure is on my mind along with not mutilating the terrain to support it.

This is exactly one of the reasons why I use other train sets together with this otherwise great set... :(

Maybe you need complex timetabling, like in real world, how the railway does to let passenger and freight trains run on the same line...
You need to let slow trains stop at a station/branch to let faster trains pass.
However, JGRPP is definitely needed for timetabling.

And moreover, entering into 21st century, you will find the fastest mail wagon (except DVT) is only 110 mph, despite much faster passenger trains. For this reason I contributed my first reply on the forum, but two years later I just found it absurd  - the reason is just no such mail wagons in reality, since the popularity of Internet, no one frequently uses mail service
But from gameplay-wise, for a game from 1990s when mail was crucial, yes, it is inconvenient. But I have already moved out from that period, and will see "no high speed mail trains" a bonus to stimulate me to do timetabling

Real world or not, the game mechanics offer post as freight. It would therefore be desirable if there were permanent mail wagons in the game - including in NewGRFs-trainsets - even if they hardly exist anywhere in reality. Perhaps not as wagons for high-speed transport, but as express freight wagons that exists in many sets, simply as a concession to the game mechanics. But 110 mph is IMHO already pretty fast for any freight except passengers and their luggage. :-)

Is there a way to fix this? The AC rail line seems to work around the diagonal issue (much like vanilla), but any other type of rail looks jagged like in the attached screenshot. Sorry, I am not a programmer, and I figure there's an engine-related issue with combining two different rail types in one tile, but this is purely cosmetic, so perhaps it could be done? Not that I consider this a bug or anything, but it triggers my OCD a little bit.

In vanilla, two different railtypes can't occupy the same tile, which is why you get diagonal sections of third rail on your normal track. The same technically happens for electric rail, but the catenary is smart enough to not appear in such cases, so you don't notice.

A solution is to use JGR Patch Pack, which does allow two different railtypes to occupy the same tile (and even comes with an autorail-like convert tool for precise rail conversion) :)

idk why but i seem to be having an issue where some trains disappear well before their expiry date for example the Apt showed up around 1981 but seems then goes off the availability list before its expiry date of 1986, the same thing happens with withdrawal dates turned off

Could I recommend some trains to maybe add to the community side of Timberwolf's UK trains? I can only really recommend since I don't know how to design a train in OpenTTD x2 Style and I don't really know how to program these kind of things. So I would like to recommend the following to anyone interested.

- NER P3/LNER J27 0-6-0
- LNER Gresley A1 4-6-2
- LNER Peppercorn A2 4-6-2
- LNER Gresley P2 2-8-2

- L&YR Class 23 0-6-0T
- L&YR Class 25 0-6-0
- L&YR Class 27 0-6-0
- L&YR Class 28 0-6-0
- LMS Stanier Princess Class 4-6-2
- LMS Fowler Royal Scot Class 4-6-0
- LMS Stanier Duchess Class (Unstreamlined Stanier Coronation) 4-6-2
- LMS Ivatt 2 Tank Engine 2-6-0T

- GWR 5101 Class "Large Prairie" 2-6-2
- GWR 7800 Class "Manor" 4-6-0
- GWR 2900 Class "Saint" 4-6-0

- SR Rebuilt Merchant Navy 4-6-2
- SR Rebuilt Light Bulleid Pacific 4-6-2
- SR U Class "U Boat" 2-6-0

- BR Standard Class 2 (Little Bit Stronger and Heavier than LMS Variant)
- BR Standard Class 2 Tank Engine
- BR Standard Class 4
- BR Standard Class 4 Tank Engine (Stronger and Heavier LMS Variant)
- BR Standard Class 5
- BR Standard Class 8

Thank You For Reading And Hopefully Some Of These Suggestions Reach Somewhere.

Edit: I forgot to also suggest a variant of the BR MK1 Coach called "Preserved Mainline BR MK1 Carriage" With a top speed of 75mph and a bonus if used with old steam locos or diesels

Hello
This is the only set that also works in 1800.
But I have one request, is it possible to introduce the:
four-weeltank wagon in 1800 too?
or an early-tank wagon.
thanks

Hi,

I've been searching through this topic, and I don't think anyone has made this suggestion before, but there's a feature in the Dutch station set that I think would really suit Timberwolf's stations. That is, the ability to carry a passenger footbridge over tracks without platforms. The Dutch set does this using waypoints, and since Timberwolf's already has 2 footbridge designs, how much effort can it be to add those sprites as waypoints (with only very slight modifications)? Then, you'd be able to have a station with two outer platforms on a 4-track line and a footbridge...
I love distracting myself from my day job by doing my day job thanks to OpenTTD JGR!

What complete and utter filth. How far we have come from shonky recoding of SH40 to do 140mph.

Bravo, sir, these are excellent.'

I like to start early period while regular railway is good, I found that narrow gauge really lacking compared to regular railway in terms of locomotives that good locomotives available too late.

Hi all, new forum member here so please forgive me if this is in the wrong place

First of all, amazing work Timberwolf on the pack, I do have two questions arising from using it

1 - it would seem the CAF MK5 DVT doesn’t reverse when paired with a loco - the train will always spin to have to loco running the front. Have I missed a setting somewhere?

2 - are there any plans to have models of the class 93/99 in game? Appreciating they are almost a class 66 shell but it would be good for authenticity to have both included

Many thanks
