read the wiki, there may be a possible way to add a randomized action 2 before the action of replacement, so actually, everything could ber andomized, like houses and the such!!! i've forgot all i knew about coding, too much inside graphics

I've added some more life to the actual farm, there are people and brand new tractor! I think i'll paint it red, but for the time being, i'm restoring that old house.

Here is the beginning of the new house, let me know what you think. I've converted the end of it into a tractor parking space.
My Plans:
  • Add windows and a proper porch to the house
Perhaps add another vehicle next to the tractor
Change the hut into a problem barn, with wheat inside
Change the double huts into a chicken pen
With the above change, i'll also remove some chickens from the silos and pig pens
I'll add some cows to the fields (Do farmers put all animals on fields at the same time, or would cows prefer the more muddy/less grass with the sheep on the more grassy areas, or vise versa?)

I suggested that too in another farming topic and 'we' concluded that you'll be stunned by hundreds tractors-'o-harvest. Unless you can find a way to randomize the tractor appearance. But with or without tractors, you make nice progress, Steve. Though I wonder what breed of chickens you put on the farm, aren't they huge?

They are um... super chickens. Yea. Don't you have them in your country?

But you need to be able to see them, they are only 6-7 pixels in total

Very nice, one query though. My current tractor uses the company colours, so it changes colour on each farm! Yup, pure genius, and i did it completely by accident :?

Here is the latest picture. The farmhouse doors, a plant and the tractor are all colour coded.
The silo roof and the water tower roof are using company colours too, but it doesn't affect those tiles.
There is a trail of smoke above the house chimney, but it is being obscured by some other things, it should become clearer as i replace them.

The colours are too fresh IMO, try to break the colours a bit with some darker spots. And don't get too detailed, try to find a good balance. For example, which farmer would bother painting the top of grain silo's? Noone ever sees them.

The airplanes do :)

I'm not sure about the colouring and shading, but i'm pretty confident in the design. So, i'm going to complete all the buildings, then when it's whole.. have a look and see what is best. The set is meant to be more colourful and exciting than the default stuff. I have also noticed my designs may be more suited to temperate, so i'll probaly end up copying them across.

The graphics are quite good, but indeed, I also think that the farms looks like "wonderland" with so many colors... it's not a matter of realism, it's a matter of not to be blinded when you are playing the game by seeing a building looking like a rainbow (hey, why don' you help doing the graphics for the pachinko parlor fot the Japan set?) :)
keep up the good work, it's going on very well!

Lakie has helped me out by fixing a problem with replacing graphics in the Arctic set. I am now able to make a grf. I still have some work to do on the farm though, so don't expect anything soon.

Yes, most farms are filthy and decrepit, and their paint, if any, is worn, faded, and peeling. The overbright colors are a bit odd. Admittedly they are in keeping with the rest of TTD though.

And if you would like to draw lots and lots of colorful buildings, we'd love to have you in the Japan project!
