Whilst all investment is great of course, the fares rise of RPI+3% for two years is crazy... it will be interesting to see if the market can take these rises in light of stagnant wages.

This does nothing to reduce the inefficiencies of the franchise system, so won't lower costs. Rolling stock is barely mentioned, and I agree with you all, its really important.

The MML is already being increased to 125mph line speed, however, I don't see why 125 is a requirement for electrification. The WCML had a 110mph top speed for 40 years with OHLE.

And tough, you can't have any more 390s.

No. But where it is possible without changes of alignment it is being done.

Why does a Twisty Track, and 125mph+ Speed automatically mean Class 390's to you? Seriously?!
There are opportunities for other Builders to have a look whether they can manage to build something better in Projects like this!
