Re: Midland Main Line to be electrified...
Whilst all investment is great of course, the fares rise of RPI+3% for two years is crazy... it will be interesting to see if the market can take these rises in light of stagnant wages.
This does nothing to reduce the inefficiencies of the franchise system, so won't lower costs. Rolling stock is barely mentioned, and I agree with you all, its really important.

Re: Midland Main Line to be electrified...
The MML is already being increased to 125mph line speed, however, I don't see why 125 is a requirement for electrification. The WCML had a 110mph top speed for 40 years with OHLE.
And tough, you can't have any more 390s.

No. But where it is possible without changes of alignment it is being done.

The weird thing was, I was thinking earlier if he'd end up driving any new topics off the rails again.JamieLei wrote:I was just thinking that!Geo Ghost wrote:Here we go again...Alan Fry wrote:If not, then the new stock will have to be Class 390s
So I totally may have jinxed it. My bad.
Re: Midland Main Line to be electrified...
Why does a Twisty Track, and 125mph+ Speed automatically mean Class 390's to you? Seriously?!Alan Fry wrote:If not, then the new stock will have to be Class 390s
There are opportunities for other Builders to have a look whether they can manage to build something better in Projects like this!
