Personally I hate all Windows. There is no Operating System that I really like. But XP is the best in my opinion. All other windows just crash for me. I suppose I do make the pc work hard though. :) I've crashed linux before. lol

i think dos must have been the best operating system ever, because it's still the base off Win XP

What you talking about. Windows XP is Windows NT 5.1. And no Windows NT uses DOS. They have a command promt like dos. But they don't need it too run at all. All of Windows 9x use DOS to run though. Like Windows 95, 98, ME etc.

sorry , it's just that i saw the chkdsk command coming up when i started my pc this week after electricity problems
it's very strange when you see old commands popping up
that's why i figured dos was still the base of XP

Are you using FAT32 File system or NTFS. If FAT32 windows will run chkdsk when you reset wrong.

NTFS does sometimes depending on when u reset or shutdown.

It was, it opened many doors to me. I can still use Office XP on 98SE.

The next version of office won't support Windows 9x. *Phew*

They can work on making office better rather than making it compatabe with a unsecture OS!

or they can do both, and whats wrong with Windows 98SE? It's better than Windows XP for sure! Windows 98SE and 2000 are the best operating systems I've come accross (A LOT of OS's).
Thanks,
Adam Reece.

I have Windows 98 SE and Windows XP installed as a dual-boot system. I use Windows 98 most of the time, as I do a fair bit of work with DOS-based programs and development, but Windows XP is needed for some things (eg, Visual Studio.NET), and it is more stable.

About all the Windows' are unstable, i think.
95/98/ME/XP I had them all on my pc (Not at the same time :P) and they all crash frequently.
My brother bought a Macintosch. That's pretty stable.
But the best is off course Linux!
Big signatures are annoying
