The guys on the British Columbia/Washington border are funny. They complain about how nothing interesting happens. Ever.

the American customs people in the Ontario-Buffalo Lewiston are kind of weird.. One day they let nobody through

They are not bouncing you, but they do "random" checks on anyone who confirms some kind of stereotype. A friend of mine got picked out by customs on 3 trips on a row because he has a pony tail, wears bandshirts and blue jeans. The same thing happens with loads of black people etc too. Customs just suck A LOTbwong wrote:American customs? I don't think they'll do that...
Yes they are more strict then other countries (in NA) but they won't kick you out or like not let you in for looking different

Just as a note of general interest regarding a U.S. meet that might include any place that serves alcohol aside from a restaurant. The legal drinking age in the U.S. is 21 years old. Anyone under 21 years old would not legally be allowed in a pub, club, or bar that serves such beverages.

Yep, that is of course something that has been noted. We'll have to see what happens, but it'll depend really on where the meet is held, and what we actually plan to do, and I guess how many 18-20 year olds want to attend.

I would probably make it if it was either not that date or in a place that I could get to and from on the day.

Don't do what I did.
Walking into the USA from Canada on a UK passport...
Boarder Gard "why do you want to come to the USA"
Me "I don't know, I was board. I wanted to see what was on your side"
*Pause*
Then he started a line about my unusual surname. (It is desended from Scandinavia aparently!).
They did let me in after paying $6 just to walk in!
On my next visit I was flying in. I was hoping they would find my stamp from my previous visit, and NOT the stamp from Tunisia due to both the entry and exit stamps having only Aribic writing!

My old passport has a US stamp directly next to a Russian stamp.

The US isn't a problem.

Re: Potential TT-Forums Meets of 2010 (UK and USA/Canada)
I am thinking of going.
However, I wouldnd go for just one day though (if it would be held in the US/CAN). Seeing as I am living in the Netherlands.
if, however it would be held in the UK I prolly wouldnd mind to go for a day or so.
Might see if I could attach some kind of vacation to the US/CAN. That is one thing that is on my *what do I want to do before I ....*-list

For the record, I'm likely to start planning the meets in more detail come around February or March. Once I know where I'm going to be, I'll know more about how and where I can organise the meets.

Re: Potential TT-Forums Meets of 2010 (UK and USA/Canada)
I would truly love to attend a meet in the UK. My preference would be somewhere towards the south however if I am as determined as I think I am to attend you could probably put it anywhere and I would still endeavour to make it.
I think it would be great to meet other TT and OpenTTD players in person and the forums have always got a good vibe so I bet the meets do as well.
Are there any core developers there occasionally? Even without them it would be a great chance to meet up with fellow gamers and this would both be my first and last chance to attend.

Re: Potential TT-Forums Meets of 2010 (UK and USA/Canada)
Well, Josef (Patchman) made it to the 2008 meet, as did Lakie. Some of the OpenTTD developers expressed interest in attending the meet, although they did this after the meet had already happened - evidently they need to pay more attention to the topics in advance.
Plus I of course have been at the meets. I think those are probably the main "developers" who've attended. It's a fun occasion, anyway.
