I use OpenTTD 0.6.0 and the latest GRF from pikkarail,I think it's an OpenTTD problem, though I'm not sure about that.
at last someone who agrees with me
Hectobar, do you know why onodera's post is more helpful than yours?

He told us what version he was using which goes a heck of a long way to helping to find the problem.

Now I'm not having a problem with it. The chances of a quarry being built in game are very very slim. If you want a quarry in game you should add it in the scenario editor.

Because you didn't try every possible permutation.

You have to apply the grf under NewGRF Settings while your scenario is open.

I see many people here play OpenTTD - does PBI work well on the new 0.6.0 version of OTTD? Is everything working as intended? I saw the GRF would load successfully but scenarios for TTDP that use it will need the industries to be redone. I really want to rebuild some of the Jim Powers's scenarios to work in OpenTTD and he seems to be using PBI in some of them.

That's because you also need 3 horizontal tiles at the bottom.

They are still required for correct placement of the industry...

true but you dont really need to explain that because the ground is always needed to place an industry

He doesn't just mean ground, he means 3 ground tiles in a row that are cleared from rocks and roads/buildings/whatever.

Tried again, on a r12659 build. Had only two GRFs loaded: PBI and the brick chain itself. Still can't build any quarries on my specially prepared slopes. I think the newindustries support is still a bit buggy.

Funny... I can easily.

Buggy? How? And have you been able to place them in THE EXACT SAME PATTERN in TTDP?
If so, yes, it might be a bug. Or a feature not implemented.
Could you provide a scenario?

[Edit] After trying it again, just to be sure, i found out i am not able to do so anymore. So, i guess something has changed that broke it. Last time i've tried, it worked flawlessly. Sorry.[/Edit]

OpenTTD and Realism? Well... Here are a few thoughs on the matter.

Hi, I'm not sure whether this is OprnTTD 0.6.0 problem or the GRF problem,
since I didn't test this on TTDPatch...

The point is this: For some industries that produce products whenever
*either* of the required materials is available, can it switch to higher production rate
as long as *one* of the materials have reached the required stockpile amount?

I have a sub-tropic factory fed only with copper and plastics,
and I found that since plastics has a more steady input,
it eventually becomes saturated, but it still produces at a low rate,
because there's lower input of copper (not to mention no wood at all)

siu238X,

The industry will be limited to low production levels if no goods were transported away in the previous month (after all, they're not going to break their backs producing goods that no-one wants). You need to transport goods away from the factory to raise the production rate.

Thanks, so that can explain why I found a copper mill supplying copper to this factory
also suffers from saturation, but it's working in a higher rate.

Gotta build some trucks to transport the goods back to the refinery
(which curiously is surrounded by office buildings...)

Good news, since r12759 (OpenTTD), quarries are now back into the scene.
Unfortunately, it means that the fix will only be available on 0.6.1, for those who do not use nightlies.
May I suggest that the next time, OpenTTD bugs be reported in bugs.openttd.org?
It would be very usefull ;)
