How long does it take for you to do all of these?

Post by Jim Powers »

Mr. Voila1;

You asked "How long does it take you to do all of these?" Do you mean
each scenario or all 49 posted scenarios, Sir? :?:

Hills & Valley Scenario

Post by Jim Powers »

Dear TT-Forums Members & Guests;

I've completed my 50th (posted) scenario!
This scenario is called "Hills & Valley". That's just what it is. And, it is solely for the
'thinking' TTD player. In "Hills & Valley" there is a city in each of the four corners,
surrounded by a river and mountains (hills). In addition to that, in the center, there are
4 cities in "Hills & Valley" which are also surrounded by hills and water. Sounds easy?
Well, the trick is NOT to change nor modify the ridge of any of these mountains.

Now, take a good look at "Hills & Valley", and you'll soon discover that it
ain't easy at all! In fact, it's REAL HARD!
Of course, there's the wood, coal, iron, steel, etc. which needs to be converted
into goods, which in turn, is needed for each of the corner and center cities. And
don't forget all those waiting passengers and overdue mail bags........... :roll:

Looks like there's a lot of work to be done in "Hills & Valley", so, ya might as well
get started, don't ya think? :wink:

Mr. Voila1, it takes from a couple of days (i.e. Twins Peaks USA) to a couple of months
(i.e. Jim's New York City) on some of my scenarios, but, I like it!

Always,
Jim Powers

Hills & Valley Progress

Post by Jim Powers »

Mr. Geo.c Ghost;

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, my good Friend. To answer your question.
"You have quite an imagination and a lot or creativity it seems Jim. I don't think I've
asked before, but have you ever used those skills for anything else? Like design kind
of things. Was just wondering
." The answer is yes.
I've been an estimator and salesman since 1968. And, as an dry wall salesman and estimator,
I must 'paint' in what people want and are trying to portray on plans, papers, etc. As you see,
that's been a few years. (Most of you weren't even born then.)

I'm also an 'artist'. (I don't like saying that 'cause people will think I've got big ego, just because
I'm an ar-tist.) So, no big deal. In Israel, I'm a dry wall teacher and consultant. I like to use
my imagination to make things work. That's why TTD is the perfect game for me. I love it! :wink:

BTW, Thank you, Mr. Raichase, for your faithfulness in listing my scenarios. Love ya!

Here is the progress in my latest game from my "Hills & Valley" scenario. I hope you
will enjoy these pics.

Always,
Jim Powers

Almighty Alpine

Post by Jim Powers »

Interested TT-Forums Members;

I've been working on another scenario to be called "Almighty Alpine".
There are a number of 'Alpine' mountains in the world. Mountains which are above 10,000 ft.,
are considered 'Alpine'. So there are 'Alpines' in Europe, Asia, North and South America, and
probably elsewhere. When one thinks of 'Alpine', one usually pictures ice, snow, high altitude,
freezing winds, etc., and correctly so. So, shortly I'll be releasing "Almighty Alpine", hoping
that this frigid scenario will help keep you cool. :wink:

The main feature of "Almighty Alpine" is that the mountains are sheer cliffs on one side and
'sculpured' on the other side. (See the large Super Pic to really see what I mean.) There was
a lot of work put into "Almighty Alpine", to be sure that you'll soon be enjoying this cool
and delightful scenario. :lol:

Always,
Jim Powers

Scenario Trivia

Post by Jim Powers »

For Those Interested;

Here's a little Trivia concerning my scenarios. (For the 1st 6 months of 2007).

Here at TT-forums:
Each week the average scenario is downloaded 3.7 times.
With the most popular scenario "Extreme Cities" weekly downloads averaging 30.7 times. :shock:
Each week for all the scenarios, the average total is downloaded 174 times.

On Krtaylor's US SET web site, http://www.as-st.com/ttd/
Each week the average scenario is downloaded 6.0 times.
With the most popular scenario "Jim's New York City" weekly downloads averaging 8.3 times.
Each week for all the scenarios, the average total is downloaded 77.9 times.
(Note: Krtaylor's web site only contains 13 of my American scenarios,
while TT-Forums contain 50 of my scenarios.)

Mr. Rudge & Mr. Taylor, Thank you for letting me have the space to share my scenarios
with the other TTD fans, (and addicts like myself.) :wink:

Mr. Geo.c Ghost;

Well, I'll be posting "Almighty Alpine" as soon as they work the 'bugs out of the
new 'upgrade'. Because, right now, it looks like no one can find the scenarios I've made
so far, Either that or everbody's lost interest in them at once. :( I can't hardly find them
myself and I know where they're at. But, knowing Mr. Rudge, he'll work all that out, then
we'll be happy again, you think? :wink:

Meanwhile, here's a screenie from "Almighty Alpine"

Always,
Jim Powers

p.s. BTW, I'm making another huge city scenario using the latest TTD features from our wonderful graphic
artists. It's called "The City". It is NOT a remake of 'Jim's New York City'.

Hi Jim,

Your scenario has been moved to the new Scenarios forum. There's still a link in the old Transport Tycoon Deluxe forum though, so people can still find them. :)

Dear Mr. Rudge;

Please don't think I'm being ungrateful. it's just that I happened to list (see above)
the weekly average for downloads here at TT-Forums which you'll notice is 174 downloads
per week. The last 2 weeks though the totals have been 62 downloads,
(week before last) & 64 downloads(last week). This is about 1/3 of a normal week's
download. I'm sure this will inprove when we all get used to the new system, which
is very nice indeed. :)

Anyway, I wanted to show you all the population of the last 'mega' city scenario I'm working
on called "The City", which is Moscow, Russia. I've got over 2,000,000 people PLUS
the Moscow River going through it. Actual population is 2,036,521!
'Jim's New York City' scenario is still the all time highest population with it's population
of 2,079,335. As I've said before, "The City" is made completely from 'scratch'. :wink:

Pure awesomeness Jim! :D

Love that little picture of your HQ couple of pictures up. That looks excellent.

2million? It's just a little bit big ay? :P
That would bring in god knows how much for passengers. Specially if you got a train terminal somewhere near the mid- I just had a brain wave :wink:

Jim, though i havn't played TTD in a while, this is a map i have just GOT to try. Along with a few others of yours :D

Can't wait to see what else you have in store :wink:

Mr. Geo.c Ghost;

You are a encouraging friend. Thank You for your support.

Well, I've set a new record. Now TTD history was made today!
"The City" (Moscow) became the most populated scenario in TTD history!
Would you believe that I got 2,140,727 people in one city! If you don't believe it,
just look at my screenie. If that's braggin', please let me indulge, OK? :lol:

I suddenly feel very very small.
How on earth did you get it that big Jim? The cross hatching roads... or do you have a secret only known to you? :wink:

What other things are you going to put in that out standing map? That looks like fun to play. :D
Wonder how many people would be at a train station or airport in the middle. I'm guessing around 7000 :P

Re: [TTDP] Jim Powers Savegames - Big cities

Post by Jim Powers »

Mr. Geo.c Ghost;

In regards to "The City".
In "Jim's New York City" I found that after I put in that 'subway that goes around
the edge of my scenario, I installed a very large bus/mail system. Then, as I was
able, I installed those 3 airports and as the money started coming in, I cleared
the unpopulation eroded areas and set in RR stations with the industry which was
randomly set (by the computer) as you cleared the streets and isolated houses.
This made a real good playing game. :]

Now, to answer your question "How on earth did you get it that big Jim? The cross
hatching roads... or do you have a secret only known to you?
" I'd say it's the latter,
which I've not told anyone. Now, it looks like this gives all you TTD 'die-hards'
somethin' to work on, huh? :wink:

Meanwhile, I'm playing "Almighty Alpine". Wow, I just can't seem to get
away from it. I've got Mr. Pikkabird's industries and his and Mr. Blunck's trains going
and am having a TTD ball! Good stuff, gentlemen!

Also I do appreciate you, my friend and buddy Mr. Geo.c Ghost. Thanks for being there. :bow:

Always,
Jim Powers

I see you've been well and busy these days, Jim. I know that I'm going to love your latest scenario. I seem to have gotten my newly-installed TTD all ready and such, and my first real game will be with your map. Thanks for all the fun these many years! :D

Mr. RPharazon;

Say Man, where have you been? Good to see you're back with us TTD addicts,
(as my wife says.) :lol: We got this new cool upgrade and I'm trying to get used
to it. So, are you ready to play either "Almighty Alpine",
(My most enjoyable scenario to date,) featuring Mr. Blunck's Alpine grf., or
"The City" which is the largest city in all of TTD (with a pop. of 2.1M.) :shock:

Ah. I have been moving across countries. I'm sure you have your own experiences with such drastic moves. :wink:
It seems to me that Almighty Alpine looks like a good scenario for me. I prefer space to build a network, but also nice, tricky terrain. You seem to have ignored the canyons altogether in your screenies!
I'm looking forward to whatever you put out. :)

Mr. RPharazon ;

Sorry to be slow getting back to you, My Friend. BTW, Hope to make more scenarios
with you. You did some great work in "Amazing Alberta".
OK, Here's one of my [3] latest scenarios called "Almighy Alpine".
Using Mr. Blunck's Alpine feature and other graphics, plus Mr. Pikkabird's fine grfs,
I created what I believe is my most entertaining scenario in "Almighty Alpine".

Almighty Alpine is filled with brutal high plateaus which are sculpured on one side and
sheer cliffs on the other. There are 10 cities placed atop the mountains with some
interesting industries around about them. All making a great scenario which will give
you plenty of gameplay for hours. I know because I've been playing "Almighty Alpine"
for the last several weeks, and it plays nice! :wink:
(If anyone wishes to have my save game 'Alpine Express Company', just ask.)
Suggestion: I'd download the grf file along with the scenario. Have Fun!

Jim Powers
